The Horn of Africa is facing its worst drought in 60 years, leading to a severe food crisis that is affecting 12.5 million people. Lack of usual rains means parched croplands, dying livestock and soaring food prices. Mercy Corps teams in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya are delivering assistance to more than 1 million people affected by the crisis. Here's how they are responding, and where: Somalia: Filtering and trucking drinking water to 15,000 people in makeshift camps in the capital of Mogadishu. Distributing food to 1,000 households, and cash grants for families to meet their immediate needs. In northern Somalia, supplying safe drinking water to more than 600 families who've fled their parched villages. Ethiopia: Seven mobile health teams in the hard-hit Somali region continue to provide vaccinations, medical check-ups and fortified food to more than 1,100 pregnant women and children under five every week. Trucking water to remote communities along the Somalia border, installing water storage tanks, vaccinating vital livestock, and helping herders sell their weakened animals to meet urgent needs. Kenya: Helping more than 200,000 people in more than 30 villages gain lifesaving access to water. Trucking in hundreds of thousands of liters each week to bone-dry communities in southern and western Wajir County. Delivered diesel fuel to pump clean water from 12 boreholes used by 140,000 people. Shift Cycle Wear is committed to giving our customers more reasons to ride for a cause than any cycle wear maker in the world. That's why we continue to partner with organizations like Mercy Corps that have pledged to make a difference. This unique jersey features a map indicating the three countries that Mercy Corps is actively providing much-needed relief. The jersey background features the watermark of the African Adinkra Symbol for Unity. The back of the jersey proudly states that you are an official donor to this cause.
