a beginners must have...
I am half way through the book, and although there are no pictures or diagrams (im a visual learner) the book is great. Janet also links you to plans for a tiny house. Fun to plan a place off grid. The basics... well written. A beginners must have.

Not a "how to" book
The title of this self published work would lead you to believe that it would help you build your own greenhouse. Not so fast, this book has no pictures, illustrations, diagrams or charts. It contains many words, but after reading them, you will have no better idea about how to get started with a greenhouse than you did prior to reading. Save your money and pass on this one. You will learn more by reading catalogs.

Things to Think About if You Want a Greenhouse Garden
If you have ever considered greenhouse gardening, this book presents you with a variety of options and ideas to consider before taking the leap. The book is logically organized, and the author certainly appears to be someone who knows greenhouse gardening from experience. In this short book, she briefly goes over the things you need to think about before buying your greenhouse materials—assuming it is a DIY project—actually building it, and elements you need to consider like airflow, heating and cooling systems, irrigation, and greenhouse growing methods. She also discusses how to protect your greenhouse from excessive cold, heat, and high winds. You’ll find an entire chapter that compares and contrasts traditional greenhouses and polytunnel ones. My only complaint is that the book doesn't have photos or illustrations, and I would have loved to see some examples of what she is talking about.I have read a number of this author's sustainable living books, and like all the rest that I have read, I found this to be a practical general guide that is full of tips as well as things to consider. Will it be the only book you need if you want to start a greenhouse garden? Probably not. But if you're still in the “thinking about it” stage, this book will give you much food for thought, including the complexities of building, preparing, and maintaining your greenhouse. Like all her books, this one seems to come from her personal experience, so you might find some hints and techniques that you won't find elsewhere.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

To greenhouse or not to greenhouse: a useful introductory book
This is a very good beginner’s introduction to greenhouse gardening. In her simple, easy to read, and engaging style, the author covers everything you need to consider while deciding what kind of greenhouse or hoop house will suit you. She considers location, space, budget, time constraints, and your experience. She does not provide an actual “how-to” of building a greenhouse, so the title is slightly misleading. But everyone who is considering using a greenhouse should read this book as it will help with all the decisions you have to make. And the author answers the questions you don’t even know you need to ask. I found the chapter on which mistakes to avoid particularly helpful! The book is full of tips from the author’s vast experience. My husband and I several have raised bed gardens and are considering adding a hoop house to the plan, next, but wondered if we should just go straight to greenhouse. This book helped me decide that starting with a hoop house would be the best for us.I would have liked pictures and/or diagrams, but it is a very good narrative, and I found it helpful.

I have learnt a lot
Maybe it's because it is Spring now in Australia, or maybe it's the stay-at-home year we have all had, but I really seem to be catching the "gardening bug" at the moment. My dad built a greenhouse in our backyard when I was a kid, and I have so many fond memories of him growing tomato seedlings in the greenhouse and then planting them out in the garden. Maybe I'm getting nostalgic, but I feel like I need to do the same!I am still reading through the book, but so far I have gained a whole lot of info. I had no idea about how, why, or what when I started, but I already feel like I need to start prepping the foundation for my very own greenhouse. This is going to be interesting...
