While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written medical thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great medical thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; Launcher; Purple Sage Books LLC.; BookSends; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Very good and different
I don’t quite know what genre to call this book. Thriller, Sci Fi, mystery, but whatever it was very good with the exception of a few chapters that took place in the small shack.

An Interesting Read
What I liked best about this book was its manner of storytelling. At no point is the reader hit over the head with clunky exposition. The story (and the characters) unfolds in its own time. I liked the plot, the characters, and the paranormal elements. I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 because, as much as I enjoyed the book, it felt like it had potential to go even further. A longer, more fleshed out version of this book, perhaps with more back story, more character development, and deeper internal conflict would have engaged me even further. Don't get me wrong, I liked what was written, in fact, so much so that I wanted more. SPOILER ALERT: Exploring the turmoil and the question of existence from Andrews would have been compelling. I was aching for a confrontation between Andrews and his god (or even John, for that matter). It seems the other FBI agents would have been struggling with their lack of memories as well, leading, perhaps, to questioning what their mission was really all about or whether they should continue? John wrestling with guilt over falling in love again, not only with Jillian, but with Valerie too, while still living his life mourning his wife and son could have been interesting. Learning more about Jillian's origin story and what she went through after undergoing her transformation would have been satisfying and could have added more dimension to her character. Learning more about the relationship of the monster to Jillian; how Valerie stumbled on singing to help with the monster (and why it works?); and finding out if Jillian's brother really is dead, would have been very satisfying. The ending, from the hospital on, seemed rushed. However, despite all of the above, I enjoyed reading Hidden Doors, Secret Rooms and would recommend it more for the quick read than for the Stephen King or Robert McCammon-esque experience I wanted it to be.

A truly pleasant surprise!
Being referred to the writer through a good friend and workmate, I was leery before I ever read the first page...because that friend who recommended the book to me, is her brother. Ahhh yes, that puts a different spin on things. Of course a sibling would sing the praises of another--if deserved of not. Even taking that all with a grain of salt, there is the uncertainty that of not liking the book, and then having to somewhat diplomatically tell the friend/brother one's opinion of the book. Yikes!Thankfully...not only did it turn out to have been unnecessary to have worried, but conversely, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and would be happy to now myself recommended to anyone who enjoys a fine thriller, with an excellent lead character and does not resort to "red herring" plot twists. Instead it lets solid writing, which stays out of its own way, and a brisk but not rushed pace take charge and whisks us along for a page-turning ride! BRAVO! And excellent first effort. As good as, if not better, than many I've read from some of the "Big Boys" in this crossover approach and field! Outstanding !!PS: an perhaps, Ms. Eubanks, you might return the favor, and read MY first book--yep, I've got one too. ;) If your own material is any indication...I hope I am safe in thinking and believing, you'll enjoy mine as well.Look For: "The Amulet", by Michael Christian. Hope to see a review from you on my page sometime. Again, great job !

A good supernatural read, plus a monster
I can see why some people wouldn't like this book - my husband would be one of them! However, if you are prepared to suspend belief and enjoy supernatural/paranormal books witha monster/demon thrown in, then you will probably enjoy it as much as I did. I read this in oneevening because I really wanted to know what happened to the characters.John Mills is a famous musician but, following the death of his wife and child, lives as a recluse inan isolated area. In a snow storm he rescues 5 year old Valerie and her mother Jillian. They are onthe run from agents (FBI ?) who want to kill her, because Jillian has special powers. John is at firstsceptical about these powers till he sees them for himself. After that he is determined to keep mother anddaughter safe from the agents, at whatever the cost.Jillian's powers have a disturbing side effect - and here the monster enters the story. Cannot say too muchbut this is where suspending belief comes in. Valerie, through necessity, is a child wise beyond her years.Personally, I didn't think the F word needed to be used so much. Also the ending was slightly ambiguous andnot everything was explained fully. Overall though, a good supernatural read.

Not my normal sort of hook - but fantastic!
I must say this is not the sort of book I would have considered reading if I'd read what it was about, not really into paranormal things! But I LOVED it, it had me hooked from the start and it was a real page turner. I was torn between doing an important assignment and reading the rest of the book - the book won! It was one of those books that you want to read quick so you know what happens but you don't want it to end. I really got to know the characters and loved the way it was written. An easy 5 stars.

Different
I for some reason thought this was a detective/police procedural storyline, which are the books I like. This however was a bit of a stretch in the imagination stakes for my liking. Having said that, apart from the usual typos was actually rather good. If you are into this I'm pretty sure you would enjoy it and if like me you have downloaded in error, just give it a chance as the story, find a little imagination, is interesting and well written.

WOW what a read....
WOW.... Phenomenal first book I can't wait to read the next. Hope I don't have to wait long? Really enjoyed the storyline & characters. Couldn't put it down till I knew what was going to happen to Jillian & her daughter, I found I was encouraging them to carry on. When John Mills becomes involved all he wants to do is help Lillian and her daughter but to what cost?
