Perfect part book for level A1.2 with vocabulary and CD rom inckuded. And for the ease of use the pages are numbered just like in the full book! Very handy.

This is the book I use to study germany in Goethe, which is the german embassy. It's very helpful, detailed, and easy to understand (although the german language isn't). Recommended for you who wants to take german!

I'll first start by saying I did not buy these from Amazon, but from a bookstore in Germany.I am currently using this book in a German A1 course that is centred around it. In this class setting, I have found the book to be very interesting and it is has definitely helped me learn much better than I did on my own.I, however, would not recommend this for personal use as it seems to be designed specifically for a class setting. The fact that the CD included is in fact a DVD, and not the required listening CDs is the reason I give it four stars. With previous language books I have purchased, I like to listen to the CDs on my way to class or at home, so I am constantly in contact with the language. I find it disappointing that I cannot listen to them or go over past lessons without an additional purchase.As I said in the title, if I had bought this for personal use, I would have given it less stars due to this. The fact they do not include them and do not explicitly state that they are an extra purchase shows to me they didn't consider private use. So I would think twice before you buy for your self.

This is a really good revision aid for anybody wishing to revise their existing German at A1 level. Because all the instructions are in German however I think it might be unsuitable for a complete beginner unless they were using it as part of a course

For the Goethe Institute A1 course, very relevant, builds useful conversation very quickly without neglecting grammatical points.

Beware that when you buy this book with interactive DVD, the interactive DVD only contains half the exercises in the book. In order to get the other half, you have to buy another DVD separately. In addition, this version of the book is entirely in German, even the instructions, which isn't useful if you're a beginner. There is a version with the instructions in English and the lessons in German, so it's probably best to get that version rather than this one. This was recommended to me by a German class I attended but it's really not suitable for beginners and not very user-friendly.
