Just what I love !! 😍👍🏼
I have always loved Susan Bates crochet hooks because they are comfortable to hold in my hand, I have osteoarthritis and so that says a lot that this crochet hook is comfortable for me to hold. I also like when I'm crocheting with it and I pull the yarn through the loop I feel this clicking a kind of soft clicking and it makes crocheting a more enjoyable experience.... I am very glad that I made this purchase from this retailer. Order from this company you will not be disappointed!!

HATE this hook, edge too sharp
I bought this because of the positive reviews, and I wish I’d just bought a regular steel Boye. My main problem with this hook is that the edge of the notched end is VERY sharp. I constantly scraping my thumb against it as I work, and it’s a very unpleasant sensation (kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard, but for your hand). The sharp edge also snags when pulling through loops, especially with wooly/rough/bulky yarns. Additionally, I dislike the matte metal finish. I find it unpleasant to hold and not slippery enough. (I don’t really see any advantage to a non-slippery Crochet hook. The whole object of using it is to constantly slip in and out of loops.) Lastly, I don’t like the in-line shape. I let the interwebs convince me that this shape would somehow be superior, but having used it a number of times now I’ve found that it makes zero difference in the quality and consistency my stitch size. However, it DOES make it slightly harder to maneuver the hook through loops (especially special stitches like back post double crochet). Verdict: It’s usable, but I would never consider purposely buying this brand again.

Please read this is helpful information
I lost my favorite crochet hook a long while ago and sense we are stuck in the house I wanted to get back at it so my mom ordered a size 4.5mm silver crochet hook. It took a REALLY long time to arrive. When it does arrive I feel like screaming. Why you say? BECAUSE WHAT I RECEIVED A SIZE 10mm CROCHET HOOK!! SO I WAITED FOR DAYS AND WHAT I RECEIVED TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!Let me give you the hint for success: with the experience that this has given me if i were you..... I WOULD STAY AWAY!!!!!!My loving mom ordered a set of numerous different sizes and it even comes with a carrying bag. I hope this was helpful information.

These hooks are awesome! :)
I could go on and on about these crochet hooks because I think I am biased. :) I only use Silvalume hooks (and Susan Bates hooks in general). When my mom first started teaching me to crochet at 16 years old, the very first hook she taught me with (which I still have to this day) was a Susan Bates Silvalume size K (that's all it said... which tells you how old I am, since now they all say metric sizes on them). ;) I have read reviews from other hook users about how these hooks will "split your yarn apart sometimes" but I have to tell you that I honestly do not encounter that problem. Perhaps it's because I've been using these hooks so long? Perhaps it's because I have a different tension? I'm not sure... but I don't have that problem. I adore these hooks and have almost the entire line. I won't use any others.

Pitted defective
I really love these hooks. I have never seen one this bad in my life. It was pitted. And you can see in the pictures the anodizing didn't work. It must have been spattered with oil. Since I actually know someone who made these I am disappointed. As far as the reviews that say they are not the same and they are squeaky. Just rub a fabric softener sheet on it and it will be just like the others.

Silvalume - my favorite crochet hooks
This size hook in the Silvalume is not always easy to find in the craft stores so I ordered it from Amazon. I love the Susan Bates Silvalume crochet hooks. It's just a matter of personal preference, but I much prefer the inline hook and throat of the Silvalume to the tapered hook and throat of the Boye brand hooks. I also prefer using the metal hooks because they glide through the yarn easier, making me a faster hooker. I don't like using most plastic hooks because there can be some drag, like it's squeaking through the yarn and it's annoying to me, like fingernails on a chalkboard. *shudder*I did notice some lines in one part of the hook, possibly from the manufacturing, but nothing that has affected the usage. However, I have found that keeping all of the Silvalume hooks together in a pouch, banging against each other, can create little scratches or nicks on the surface which could definitely affect usage on a long enough timeline. So I am going to find or make a pouch with individual slots for the hooks. This hook size is perfect for crocheting with bulky yan, super bulky yarn or 2 strands of worsted held together and still be able to create a tighter weave, depending on the type of stitches used. I am currently making an afghan using Lion Brand Hometown yarn. The combination of that yarn and this hook is making for a very speedy project.

Susan Bates : the only brand I'll buy!
I've been crocheting rather often for a few years now, and after having tried several different brands of crochet hooks, I have this to say:*Boye hooks are awful, at least for my hands. For me, the hook is too small, and the pointed head is too elongated - both of which cause me to make constant mistakes.*Susan Bates hooks have a deeper hook, which grips and leads the yarn better, and the head glides much smoother through the holes/stitches.If you're looking for ultimate comfort for a marathon crochet session, you'll either want to get a plastic hook with a rubberized grip (as sold by Clover), or purchase a separate rubberized grip to slip onto the Susan Bates. Lucky for me, I already have a callous on my middle finger from constant writing and crocheting, so I suffer no irritation and do not require the rubber grip. As far as I'm concerned, Susan Bates hooks offer the perfect weight and head/hook proportions, and I can crochet at least twice as fast with these hooks as I can with anything else.

Best Hooks, Reasonably Priced!
I LOVE IT! I recommend Susan Bates inline Silvalume hooks to EVERY crocheter I know! After desperately searching every BigBox & Craft Store in my area, I'd almost given up hope of ever finding one in the larger size N that I needed! But Amazon never disappoints! Have had Product for 7 months and it's going to last FOR YEARS!

Very uncomfortable!
The hook end has a very sharp edge that hurts my fingers. I've tried filing it down but hasn't helped. Will try again but it shouldn't be that sharp in the first place. I've used many, many different types of hooks over the years and this is the worst ever.

Great Hook!
Susan Bates hooks are my favourite crochet hook and are the only kind I will use. When I found them on here I was super excited and ordered a bunch because it’s a good price and I’m always loosing my hooks around the house. They are adorable and durable!
