Workable Replacement for 038 Exhaust
Product Reviewed: QHALEN Exhaust Muffler for STIHL MS380 MS381 038 Chainsaw for $18TL;DR; Exhaust port fits 038 Super; Other fittings differ slightly and need minor mods; spark arrestor not included.I have a couple of Stihl saws including an 038 SuperThis looks a great deal like my original however there are some differences that will make fitting it take time. The exhaust port and gasket seem identical as do the inner mounting bolt holes. The outer shell lower two bolts are a match but my original does not have screws in the upper section where the outer plate is held. This one does. There is no threaded hole for the mini alan bolt I have on my saw so that would need to be made by piercing and threaded or replaced with a sheet metal screw. There is no mounting screw for a spark arrestor and no spark arrestor. Hopefully the photos will make this all clear.Overall this seems as well made as the original just a bit different and will require modifications to mount to my saw.I want to give the benefit of the doubt here as 038 models may have differed from mine but the lack of a spark arrestor concerns me and I’d have to come up with the upper screws which are not included.It’s a good product but for my saw I have to knock of one point on execution. Check photos carefully for your saw. 4 Stars.
