The BEST preservative free drops, in a large bottle that does not scratch your eye!
It looks like the negative reviews for this product do not understand the product's packaging and/or ingredients, so I will attempt to explain, since this product is genius and all of your negative reviews are hurting sales, and those of us who NEED this product to stay on the market. The formulation is preservative free, which is healthier for those of us who are severe dry eye sufferers and need to use eye drops on a regular basis, since preservatives are harsh chemicals and can be damaging to the cornea, if used often.Producing an eye drop without preservatives is not easy, and there are three primary ways to do so: 1) single use eye drops, which won't last long enough to go bad, due to lack of preservatives (ie Retaine MGD); 2) a squeeze bottle, with a formulation that deactivates the preservative when it hits air (ie Theratears); 3) A pump bottle that acts to preserve the product, through lack of air, without the need for chemicals. This product uses technique #3, which is why it may be difficult to use for those people with severe arthritis in their hands. You have to wrap your hand around the bottle and pump out each dose, individually, instead of squeeze. In other words, you put the bottom on your palm and the tip in between your two fingers, and bring the ends together. I find this pump very easy to use--if a bit counter intuitive, and I imagine that squeeze bottles are similarly difficult for people with arthritis, so perhaps those people should stick to the single use droppers, like Retaine MGD. Another reviewer complained that this product should be in a "normal" bottle, asking why it is not more "like Systane." Well, most Systane products (not in single use containers) contain preservatives, so that is why.I will go through the different techniques used to produce preservative free drops, once more, to explain why option (#3) is the best, for me, and many others.1) Single use droppers: I often use single use droppers during the day, and I prefer Retaine MGD, since I have an issue with oil production. My complaints about the single use containers are: i) as another reviewer mentioned, the tips are rough and can scratch your eye; ii) they are easy to waste, since they are small enough to lose but big enough that you can forget to use them in the recommended 24 hour period (open any longer and they run the risk of contamination); iii) I cannot easily use them in the dark, due to reasons i & ii. IOW, I use drops all night and fumbling around in the dark to use my eye drops is not easy when they are the size of a peanut and can scratch my eye if I accidentally get it too close.2) Theratears, a preservative formula that deactivates the preservative when it hits air: I used to use Theratears at night, and it is a decent product. However, its formulation is very thick, and I got sick of waking up with my eyes stuck together. I worry that it will rip out my lashes and/or cause damage from the gummy, unnatural texture.3) HPMC, a preservative free pump: As you know by now, this option works the best for me. It is a healthy, smooth texture/tip and pumps out a lot, which covers your entire eye with a silky formula, that does not leave any residue. The bottle is large enough not to lose and I grab it easily, in the dark. The tip is smooth, so I am not worried about scratching my eye, either. It does seem to run out fairly quickly, since you are getting a large dose each time. Although this is certainly a negative, and I do wish they would put more product in the bottle, I do think that the large does causes the product to give more relief, per dose.Suffice to say, I love this genius product and would encourage those of you with dry eyes, and without hand mobility issues, to give it a try.

I figured out a trick to administer/apply to my own eyes!
At first, I could not this administer these drops to myself. It was horrible. My husband had to stand over me and spritz it in my eyes. I thought the method of administering the drops was ridiculous and there was no way I was ever going to be able to do it by myself. Here’s the trick. Pull your lower eyelid down and put the eyedrop bottle perpendicular to your lower eyelid. Then do a pump and a drop will ease out. So easy, no scary spritzing in the eyes. Not sure the drops do anything, but it was recommended by my optometrist who swears by it. I really don’t have red or uncomfortable eyes, I wear rigid gas permeable contacts for long periods of time so my optometrist recommended these.

Frustratingly fantastic!!
This is the best medication that my ophthalmologist has prescribed. I have tried everything on the market for my red, dry, itchy, sore eyes that I have because of Sjogren’s autoimmune disease. Within a week of using the Retaine Eye drops in the morning and the Retaine PM Lubricant ointment at night, my eyes are clear and beautiful again in the mornings!!The only reason I did not give it five stars across-the-board is because the bottle is awkward to dispense the eye drops. I use both hands to pump the drops in my eyes. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis in my hands and fingers that has caused loss of dexterity and strength in my fingers and hands. The product is definitely worth the value because it works!! I have tried all the medications both OTC and prescribed that are on the market today. Now if the makers of this wonderful product would just redesign the bottle for me!!! lol ( I suppose I could put them in an old Visine bottle! )

Hands down, the best eye drops I've ever used
My eye doctor recommended OCuSOFT Retaine HPMC Preservative-Free Lubricant Eye Drops for my dry eyes, and they are definitely the best I've ever used. I wear contact lenses and started experiencing dry eyes about a year ago. They were so dry that I had trouble opening my left eye in the morning. After using these eye drops for a week or so, along with an eyelid scrub, my dry eye condition improved dramatically. The pump bottle takes a little getting used to, but once you've figured it out, it's easy to use. I also use the single use version, but prefer the bottle, when it's available. If you suffer from dry eyes, give these eye drops a try. You won't regret it.

I like the drops but the bottle not so much
I have MGD and these drops really help. The delivery as everyone said it really annoying. I sure they could come up with a better design. I can manage the drops because I've been using eye drops for years so I can manage this push bottom design but still it's awkward and would rather not. I can't use these drops if I wake up in the middle of the night with bad dry eye because half asleep is not going to mix well with trying to push on the bottom of the bottle to dispense a drop, so that's really not good but otherwise these drops do help and don't irritate my eyes like just above every eye drop out there.

Product arrived in opened packaging
This is a non-returnable product. However, it arrived with some water shoes that I had ordered. Both were in an Amazon plastic bag. As image 1 shows, the bottom of the box containing the Retaine product was open with the flap torn off and missing (it was not in the package). Image 2 shows that it is the bottom of the box and Image 3 shows that the product was replaced in the box upside down. I am reluctant to use this product because it clearly has been tampered with and may be adulterated or used. This product is expensive and difficult to find in local stores. I have used Amazon to purchase it before. I no longer will use Amazon to purchase this product.
