Superfast delivery from Amazon as ever! During the recent lockdown I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to work from home in my IT role. I’ve spent more time over the last 4 months on video calls and using Microsoft teams more than ever before with more and more people adapting to a new world where office based staff are working from home and yet still need to have regular catchup meetings to discuss progress and future goals with team members.My desktop setup consists of a couple of 24” screens and a laptop dock where the laptop lid is usually closed, previously I would have had to open the laptop screen for video calls and use the built in laptop webcam this was becoming a pain. I had a good look around Amazon and decided on the full HD Amcrest AWC201-B webcam hoping to give everyone a good wide angle of me and my surroundings (also to help on family quiz evenings when me and wife are both in the shot) whilst making use of my recently installed FTTH with a really high quality video stream.Unboxing:The camera comes packaged in a well-presented small box, first impressions are good with the camera having a weight to it that makes it feel like a quality piece of electronics. The camera looks discreet and professional with a piano black finish on the front of it, you hardly even notice it’s there. You get a good length of cable that would reach a computer tower under a desk as well as a privacy cover which can be attached to the camera and blocks the lens.Installation:The camera is plug and play, Windows 10 detected the camera immediately and installed the drivers without issue. Camera sits nearly on top of my screen with a sturdy mount that I believe will adjust to fit any type of screen without issue. The camera has a mounting which allows it to tilt up and down.Video/Audio Quality:The camera doesn’t disappoint the first thing I noticed is that the viewing angle is impossibly wide making it brilliant for use when you’ve got 2/3 people sat in front of it for a family quiz evening (just be careful where you place the answers as it’ll probably be inside the cameras viewing angle!). The video quality is great in both normal and low light situations with a lovely smooth image, the camera has two led white lights which illuminate when in use which is useful. The audio quality is good with no one who I was having calls with complaining about echo or feedback.Conclusion:It’s a high-quality webcam if on the little expensive side but I always believe that you get what you pay for. If you’re after a high-quality webcam with built in mic that works in both normal and low light conditions, then this would be a good choice.

Like many of us nowadays in work from home life, most of my day is spent on zoom calls. I had been using the built-in Macbook webcam for meetings but the quality wasn't great and the angle was bad being that I used an external monitor. Often I would have half a shadow across most of my face and the resolution was low and grainy.Enter the Amcrest AWC201-B. I had been thinking about buying a webcam for while now to improve the look and quality of my video and appearance on Zoom and Webex calls. I unboxed the webcam and plugged it into my Macbook. Instantly the webcam was detected and required no setting up or configuring. The image quality of the Amcrest AWC201-B is fantastic for the price. it looks sharp and the frame rate ensures any movement looks silky smooth during your calls.I sit beside a window so the light balance was a big concern for me, I didn't want my face to be too dark to compensate for the Window. There are no issues with this at all, my entire face/body is captured and looks fine while sitting beside the super bright window, I didn't need to adjust anything.The Microphone quality is the one area that this webcam has room for improvement in. It does a decent job but sometimes it comes across as very low sounding or muffled. For the price of this webcam, it's probably about good enough, the camera is the main attraction.Build quality is another area that Amcrest has clearly thought about. The webcam feels sturdy and well built. The two white LED's to show when the camera is in use look well and a lot less intrusive than others but enough to catch your attention and alert you if needed. The Stand unfolds to fit on top of any monitor or desk, movement of the webcam has not been an issue to me.The included optional install privacy filter is also nice to have. Simply apply it over the lens of the camera and close it when needed for peace of mind.Overall this is a great webcam for home use and I would rate it 4.5/5. 5/5 if it had a slightly better microphone built-in.

I give a try to this Amcrest 1080P Webcam with Microphone & Privacy Cover and I got surprised by its simplicity and quality. It was not necessary to install any dedicated software, that is good for non IT specialists, it works just plug-in-play. In another hand it could be improved with a very simple dedicated SW to adjust zoom, better focus, and adjustable ambient light. The wide-open angle camera is prefect for video call, it has a very good video quality with 1080P resolution.The webcam works perfect with MS Teams, but I didn’t test it with other players like Zoom and neither with Skype. I also didn't test the microphone quality due to always using my headphones.The privacy cover is simple, it has a good quality and it works perfectly. It can protect the camera during transportation.The USB cable have a perfect size, it is not too long and neither too short.The webcam support is simple and give to use several options to adjust on top of monitor, on bottom and using a thread connection to tripod.The overall weight of the product makes it easy to transport with my laptop.I can recommend this as easy to use and good value for money.
