Simple, effective and affordable
I have a few of these knives. I love them. They are super affordable and tough as all hell. I like the simplicity of them and the bottle opener has been used quite a bit. They don't come that sharp edge wise, but a little time with a stone and some patience will get you there. I have never purchased one that had a sharp tip (at least for me). Again, not a big deal. I'm pretty handy with a bench grinder. Now this knife will shave my arm hair and remove splinters from skin if need be. I can't say much else about this thing. For the price and build strength, I'm very happy with it. If anyone on here is questioning this purchase, don't. It's worth it. Also, the sheath is simple and highly functional with nothing to rattle or rust. I guess speaking of rust, I'll mention this; the reason this blade is so strong is because it isn't a high stainless mix. It will rust when along the edge and wherever the coating wares off, so keep it dry if possible and oiled occasionally. Ok, I'm done. Feel free to ask anything I forgot to mention.

Which in itself isn't too bad but the other side was ground from about a ...
Normally I would give this knife a 5 Star review. This one from FORT LIBERTY SALES was obviously used. Condition was supposed to be Used-Good..While I did expect a used knife that maybe had some nicks and scrapes, what I didn't expect is a knife that has had its edge ruined.Glock knife is honed to about a 25 degree angle from the factory. This knife one side was ground to about a 30 degree angle. Which in itself isn't too bad but the other side was ground from about a 60 degree angle towards the tip to about a 46 degree angle towards the handle. And the tip was slightly ground off. I believe a child could have done a better job of sharpening. I'm gonna have to re-profile the entire blade. If there were more in stock his one would be going back in a NY second.Too bad Glock choose to discontinue the model 78. It is superior to the model 81 that replaced it.

Nice knife, great price.
Nice knife. Came sharpened but not extremely sharp. Sharp enough to cut a friend who was trying to figure out how to open it, but if you're looking to create the police station scene from First Blood: Rambo it probably won't happen. Cuts better if you hone it with a steel- just like every other knife ever. "Butter knife dull"-- nonsense, unless the vendor you got it from killed the edge on purpose. The "lanyard hole" in the handle does go all the way through--but the plug blocks it in the middle. So it's probably there just to help you get the plug out.Came well oiled in the sheath, which is a good reminder that this particular steel does need to be kept oiled. And btw if you haven't read about it in the hundreds of other reviews, there is a drain hole in the sheath. Not sure why so many people have trouble "unlocking" it with one hand. After seeing so many complaints about that, it is literally the first thing I tried and it was no problem.

Be reasonable with your expectations and this knife will exceed them.
Overall I'm quite happy with this knife for the price, but if mine was typical of what you get, expect to do a little work on it before its' ready to go.First the bad points. The edge that came on this was relatively sharp but quite uneven. The grind was poor and there were dullish spots along the edge and you could see some small chipping. Also, the black coating of the blade was unevenly applied and near the edge it was raised and bumpyFortunately, these negative points were easy to remedy. I polished off the uneven coating with a dremel tool using just a buffing pad and a little jeweler's rouge and was able to remove the rough finish without baring the metal underneath. The edge I went ahead and did a full re-profile with a strop and progressively finer grit compounds. After only about 30-45 minutes I had a very strong convex edge that is both shaving sharp and surprisingly resilient for a blade with a rockwell hardness stated to be between 50-55.Bottom line for this knife is that it's a cheap knife, that with a little bit of work, can perform WELL beyond its price tag. Its light, comes with a very secure sheath, can take a heavy beating, and do everything I need a knife to do around camp. Overall I'm very happy to have this with me to do things that I'd be less inclined to subject much nicer knives to, and there really isn't much that my much nicer knives can do that this one cannot.

Excellent knife
Bought one to have for deployment, never disappointed. Tough, well designed and functional. Excellent value and not a boutique knife you'd never mistreat or toss into a tool box. Thick blade, not ideal for a general purpose utility knife OR survival knife but excellent for tossing in the trunk or bugout bag. Blade length probably too long for some jurisdictions but from a functional perspective, I'm sure it's an excellent bayonet/knife for the Austrian army.

Glock Made is Austria
Great knife for the money. I paid $25 for a model 81 over 20 years ago. In reality it is a bayonet. The little cap on the end can be taken off.. It is made to go on a Steyr Aug.. The bent piece that people call a bottle opener pushes against the flash hider. Some say the hollow end is to make it a spear. Sure you can do this but the Austrians are beyond spear chucking. A quality made Austrian knife not third world or China. The sheath comes off easily with one hand. Index finger under the so called bottle opener & thumb pushing back on the latch/ locking tab. A lot of people bad mouth this knife The original military would be a model 78 in olive. For the price buy several both models 78 & 81. Original olive, black, tan/sand. It is also very lite in weight, good for hiking. Several sellers still have them here on Amazon with shipping for about $30. The hand grip is said to be made out of the same polymer as Glock hand guns. Mistake on sheath removal index finger goes under the larger side not the so called bottle opener.

sweet
the blade comes in a package just fitting, but the box that shipped with it dwarfed it... it was enough to fill in 3 or 4 of these... a wasteful parcel choice but I'm guessing the deliverer had ran out of good sized box... that's NOT relevant to this product though.my first impression: It's heavy for it's size. I think the weight is equivalent to KABAR's USMC marine 1213. the sheath securely locks the knife in with a positive, definitive CLICK.my knife had a blunt tip though... someone must've stabbed it to a concrete.... not impressed. I want to replace it, but it would cost me more to send it back and getting replacement than buying new one, so I'm debating....if it wasn't for that imperfection, I'd give 5/5 stars....
