The extensive index, the helpful website and “how to get there” information, and amazing photographs lure the armchair reader out into the woods, mountains, and waterways of Oregon. Grant not only has an amazing eye for the rare and captivating story, but his writing is fresh and engaging. This book is thoughtful and wondrous, even if you simply want a good read. Yet, he’ll pique your curiosity and you’ll soon find yourself grabbing your binoculars and hiking boots, and heading out to catch up with him on his many adventures.

Grant does a very thorough job with his research and explanations of the area and what you will find. Very informative guide for all kinds of adventures. Excellent guide for families with children, but also for people interested in observing the wonderful diversity of wildlife Oregon holds.

We have enjoyed watching Grant's TV segments for a very long time and the book is a wonderful addition to planning trips to see wildlife in their natual habitat. Well written, very enjoyable to read.
