These refills do what others can't: they block the mosquito's ability to track your scent by using the patented chemical Linalool that was developed in cooperation with the USDA. Linalool was found to be twice as effective as DEET and many times better than Citronella oil at preventing mosquitoes from homing in on human scent, blocking mosquitos up to 100 feet.

Small and effective mosquito chemical based repeller for tables
A few years ago, CR rated this brand, Malibu, of battery fan models, the best of these types for what it does (table, deck, picnic). That is why I bought one.In a small Malibu Mosquito Inhibitor, these work well and last a long time.The range of repelling is really for a small table. More aggressive species, like the invasive Asian Tiger mosquito, will still power in to bite on the edges of the repeller field. You probably will need two of them for a typical picnic size table.The chemical is quite strong. Never ever ever use indoors or in a tent!The only negative is that the way the cups (a little too thin in material) lock into the device. It is not very secure and can come out. A small dimple in each fin that locks into the device, would probably be a start to a more secure lock of the refill in the device.But keep in mind, this is really a small repeller. Using and reapplying as needed an all natural insect repellent like Repel Natural or Bite Blocker (or longer lasting DEET or Picaridin chemical based) lotion or spray, is a better way to go.

They really work!
These really work. They obscure the smell of Co2 that comes from the body so biting insects cannot smell you. I use them to keep kissing bugs away. One cup will take care of a single room for about a month. Prior to this, I couldn't find any remedy that would prevent kissing bugs from biting, and they are NASTY. I hope these always remain available. They are vitally important to me. Finally, I don't get hundreds of bites a season!

Didn't work as well as it should have especially considering a two pack cost 3.50 and the shipping was 3.50 not included in Amazon Prime. Not worth it. Won't buy again.

Works well, but the smell can be a bit offputting
When it comes to perimeter insect inhibitors, the Malibu system works well. It's compact, uses very little batteries and extremely effective.The inserts last a long time and are easy to replace. I'd recommend.The only downside is that once opened, you must use the entire packet. You can't save unused portions

I call it the "mosquitobater" and take it with me in the garden. It really keeps them at bay. Lasts a long time too.

It Works
I have been unable to find these refills in stores, so finally,I shopped Amazon. I'm glad I hung onto the little units they go into, because this actually keeps mosquitoes away. Granted, when you are outdoors, you need to sit close to one, not at the outer limit of how far it works. Still, hubby and I have 2 units, and have returned to the outdoors this summer since we found the refills. They work in both "Mosquito Incognito" and Malibu's "Mosquito Inhibitor."
