Dangerously Soft metal. Threads strip-out plus output valve leaks
This could be a nifty little item no question about it. Except for two things.1. It seems to be made of very soft metal, similar to pot metal. It is so soft a material that when you are screwing it onto a hard steel propane bottle, you run the risk of stripping out the threads very easily if you don't get aligned just right. Once the threads are stripped, it's pretty much useless and not only that, the metal is so soft every time you use it, some of the thread is destroyed so before long the threads will wear out. Either way, stripped or worn out, it won't be able to hold the pressurized propane in the bottle and one day it might just go flying off. This would be unfortunate if you have a pot of boiling water atop your stove. I'm sure you can imagine the seriousness of this possibility.2. I noticed mine had a leaking outlet valve where the stove attaches. This is unacceptable for two reasons: When I remove the stove and left the EZ Adapter attached to the propane bottle it leaked propane. It may be a tiny amount but I could hear it when I held it to my ear. So if you do not detach the EZ Adapter from the propane bottle make sure you keep the stove attached and close your stove valve completely. Or remove the EZ Adapter from the propane tank.None the less, the inherent material problem is not something that anyone would want to take a chance with, at least not me for sure. The problem with the leaking valve could just be an instance particular to my EZ Adapter only but maybe not.If the makers would improve the material of the EZ Adapter and improve on the quality assurance of the outlet valve I would be sure to try one out again as it does work well. I am just sorry the two problems I found are just too great and serious a matter to overlook and try to live with no matter how much it costs.

simple and effective
I'm very pleased with this little beauty. Received it fast and it works exactly as shown. I am curious however about the black thing on the side that looks a dial (but isn't) what is it's purpose? It has no noticable negative effect on performance so I suppose it's a non-issue. With just a few twists I was able to switch my ultralight backpack stove from the more expensive butane fuel cans to the much less expensive propane cans. Also very pleased to discover that you can refill the little green Coleman "throwaway" tanks with a simple connector from Harbor Freight thus bringing the propane cost down even further. Thanks to whoever came up with the EZ adapter, I'm digging it.

Works, but be careful screwing it on!
As mentioned in previous reviews, the metal of this adapter is incredibly soft, almost like pewter; I believe it's made of a really soft zinc alloy. This softness makes it difficult to thread onto the much harder metal threads of a propane tank (Coleman or other) without stripping the threads on the adapter. It can be done, and works great once it's on properly, but it's kind of a hassle to have to do every time you want to use it. This adapter would be great if it was made of a harder metal.

Regulated Adapter
This little adapter worked very well. It is regulated to reduce pressure of the much higher pressure propane. Tried it on a stove and small light it worked just as I expected. It has a shrader type valve on the output connector which will stop the propane if you put it on the propane bottle first. It did seem a little low power at first, but I checked it against a butane canister and no discernible difference. No problems, would buy again if I needed another.

Works exactly as described
The black part on the unit does absolutely nothing so hopefully your burner has a regulator or you can adapt one... Im using this on a Maple Fire pocket burner (size of a lighter tall [BIC]) standard fuel for this guy is supposed to be Isobutane but that little can will be used up in approximately 1.20-.44 hours when a coleman propane can can last as long as 9 hrs. due to the higher compression. You can also use white fuel with a pump but I didnt know if MSR would fit on it, since maple fire doesnt seem to sell thier pumps without the whole kit and I didnt want to waste more money.

Leaking
I just got this adapter and first time I hooked it up it was hissing at me. Why is it leaking? I find the hiss to be coming from the valve like piece on the side. So I tried tightening it. Do not attempt this. Apparently there is a pin inserted through the main housing into the aluminum valve piece to prevent tightening, I bent it right over and now it is leaking majorly. I am in contact with the seller to see what they say about it leaking in the first place. From reading reviews I am not the first to experience a leaking valve right out of the box. I can't live with a leaking propane valve, even if it is a little bit. Just be aware of this before buying.

Cheaply made
Made of a soft material and you can tell both the internal and external threads will strip or be cross threaded if you're not careful. Biggest problem is that the propane leaks out of several places on the adaptor. I had to completely cover the adaptor with adhesive in order to prevent the propane from leaking.

has its uses
This is a cheap and easy way to use the cheaper and more available propane tanks for your butane stove when you are more or less permanent and save the butane tanks for real backpacking
