Through a Dog's Ear 1: Music Comfort Your Elderly

I have two senior dogs. We recently moved to another state. I bought a couple of theses CD's to try help decrease anxiety during a house sale and move. I started the CD's approximately 4-6 weeks prior to putting my house on the market. I would play them every afternoon while they rested at my feet so they associated music with feeling calm and happy. I played the CD's in my van as we traveled across several states to our new home. I now play during our daily thunderstorms. I established their quiet area right away and as they listen to their music, they calm rapidly during the noise and flashes of light associated with the storms. My husband laughed at me when I bought the CD's and almost had me convinced I was a crazy dog owner. He could not have been more wrong and he now even admits the dogs quickly calm. I should mention we have had to medicate a dog for anxiety his whole life. Keeping him safe, calm and happy has always been a challenge. I am totally convinced these CD's are worth the money!!! My 12 year old chow is suffering from anxiety and old age. He paces, scratches at the floor, stares at the wall and whines all the time. He would wake me up 2 or 3 times a night. The vet prescribed anti anxiety meds. Hated drugging him and the results were not consistent. Stumbled across this CD. Its amazing! It takes about 5 minutes and then he settles down. I use it when I leave the house in the morning, at night when we go to bed and any other time he displays anxiety. Let a friend try it with her dog who is younger but hyperactive. She had the same results.PS. This beautiful relaxing music also works for humans. I am a massage therapist. I use this in my practice and have found clients relax easily and really enjoy it.

I work in an animal shelter, and this is really a nice CD. The classical music is calming to me and, at times the dogs seem to settle into it. Music does seem to have an effect on dogs, and classical seems to be the most effective. One day I put the music on and noted that the barking stopped in about five minutes. Very cool.

This totally worked for my old dog who's separation anxiety was getting worse as she aged. I had tried classical music stations.........they worked a bit but not all day. I have had reports from neighbors and the renters in our basement that her barking and howling has decreased measurably! She rests quietly all day now while I'm at work and is happy and relaxed when I get home! I enjoy the music very much too!!!!

I play this music constantly for both myself and my dogs. It is great to read by while they snooze. We have also gotten in the habit of playing the music at night as we drift off to sleep. I gave a set of CDs to my dog groomer for Christmas and there is a noticable effect on the dogs in the salon when the music is playing. The dogs are much calmer and easier to groom.

I purchased this CD to help calm down my wild and crazy beasties - two large dogs less than 2 years old. They do seem to like the music. I've found my own nervous system really responds to it, and I play it all the time for my benefit too! I highly recommend this CD - I have several others of the Through a Dog's Ear series, but this is my favorite hands (ears) down.

It's a great collection of music that is not only calming and soothing for the human war, but also relaxing. I have bought the first volume and really enjoyed it. It's a nice music collection you can play on repeat for the dogs when they are home alone and it distracts from complete silence which can startle a dog if there's unexpected noise.

This is basically a classical mix tape. My dogs - 3 small dogs are not affected one way or the other by the music. But it is a nice classical CD.

This reminded me of someone practicing their piano lessons. There wasn't a lot of variety but if this was relaxing for my dog it makes sense as to why years ago when my mother taught piano our dog always wanted to be under the piano bench.

Love it. We have an 11 year old dog who is high energy by nature. She is spending more time every day sleeping as she gets older. When I find her up snoozing on our bed I start up this CD for her. We listen to one of these CDs every night at bedtime. It is very soothing. The music is beautiful. Of the 3 that I purchased this is my favorite.

My 3 dogs listen to this cd at bedtime. It really relaxes my boy and he falls asleep soon after turning on the music. He has some anxiety issues and he's a lot calmer than before I started with this cd. Love it, I fall asleep too.
