This is some really good stuff. Just have all of the same ingredients that you always use for your gumbo except the roux and baby!!!!!! YUMMY 😋

The media could not be loaded. I first discovered Karys gumbo mix in a small store near Mamou, Louisiana visiting my Cajun family. I never learned to make gumbo but decided to try this mix. Just follow the directions - I think it tastes better than my cousins, and maybe tied with my Grandmother Fontenot’s gumbo. Thank you Kary!

This is not roux, but a gumbo mix. It's not bad. It has a decent onion-y flavor and it's not too salty, but it's definitely not the same as Kary's jarred roux which tastes more authentic and has more of that gumbo flavor. This is fine for what it is, my gumbo still turned out good, but you really need to add extra seasonings to it though otherwise it will taste kind of bland. It's much easier to use by adding some liquid (broth/hot water) from the gumbo into the mix, stir it until it's thick and non-clumpy, then add it to the gumbo, otherwise you'll just get too many clumps. I wouldn't buy this again because I prefer a good ol' fashioned jarred roux because it's way more flavorful, but this was worth trying at least once.

I've tried so many different recipes and mixes and Kary's is just the best. It's simple and I can add my okra and as many extras as I like.

If you want to cut your cooking time in half, this is the product for you!

I've been using this mix for years and I still love it! I personally still add some additional seasoning, but this is a good mix on it's own. I wish they sold these in my grocery store.
