does it come with a portafilter holder?

It doesn't have a portafilter holder but it does include a thick rubber pad that protects the scale surface from being scratched up by the portafilter (or any actual portafilter holder) you might have.   I've always done single-shot grinding, so for years I've just weighed whole beans into a naked filter basket on the scale, then ground the beans into the filter basket, and then inserted the basket into the portafilter (I've removed the retainer spring, so they just drop in, and for four shots I use four filter baskets for example).  So for me I'd never thought about using a portafilter or holder with the scale, but FYI I did a quick experiment a few minutes ago to see how it would work.  I put my portafilter holder + portafilter + empty basket on the scale - it weighed 850g, so almost 2 pounds - and when I pressed the tare button it immediately went to zero, and I was able to weigh 16g of whole beans with the same apparent accuracy as if I had just weighed them into the basket by itself.  So it seems to have a pretty impressive operating range - I hadn't tried that before.   Maybe that sort of thing is why the scale is so expensive - but I have to say that after several months with it now, I've been extremely satisfied.  Although my little ProScale LC300 (at $12 or some insanely low price) delivers a lot for about 1/20 the price, but the Luna has been by far the best scale for espresso I've ever had, and it's very, very nice to use.  (Oh - you'll be amused by the packaging - strictly white-glove stuff.  I haven't seen anything like that since the original 2007 iPhone.)

The display comes with a film that appears to protect it during packaging/shipping. Has anyone removed this film?

The scale can be placed in weight mode only. It is designed for the espresso connoisseur though. It is small and you won't like the programming modes you
will have to navigate through just to weigh ingredients for home cooking. My opinion is that it too small for your application, navigation windows too complex
for what you want and need.
