Dylan Shoenfield rules Castle Heights High. Josh Rosen is just trying to make it through his senior year and submit a phenomenal video to USC’s film school. When Dylan’s bag falls into the fountain at her father’s mall, Josh comes to her rescue on one condition—she lets him film her and her friends for a documentary on popularity. Can he scrounge Dylan a happily-ever-after?One of my guilty pleasures is watching Disney movies on Netflix. It sounds silly, but there’s something about not having to think about what’s going on in a movie that’s wonderful. I had already seen the movie Geek Charming a few times and got incredibly curious about the book that inspired the movie. At first, there were a few similarities in the novel, but then there were a plethora of differences. I don’t like watching the movie before reading the book, but this was a rare occurrence. What I hate the most about having watched the movie ahead of time, is that I couldn’t help but be slightly disappointed in the book.The main source of my disappointment in the book was the ending. There were major differences in how the book ended and how the movie ended. Some of the differences were caused by the fact that the hugely important dance, which plays a pivotal role in the movie, wasn't a focus in the book. Even though there were the same characters and similar plot, it was almost like the book and the movie were two different stories. That being said, you might love one and hate the other or love each one independently of the other.Josh and Dylan’s relationship was a lot different than boy/girl friendships in most books. Throughout the entire book, I thought I knew exactly how the author would let it play out but soon learned how mistaken I had been. Most of you might draw the same conclusion that I did, some might think a little outside the box. Almost immediately after I turned the last page, I jumped online to see if there’s a sequel—there isn’t.Even though this is a young adult novel, the characters acted younger than seniors in high school in some scenes, so it would be great for a younger audience as well.Fairy tale-like feel and a comedic look at the ins and outs of popularity, Geek Charming will keep you entertained riding the subway—that’s how I read it; I could totally live in New York—during boring family gatherings, or when you need a light read to slip away with right before bed.

Robin Palmer has done it again, with a delightful, compulsively readable YA book that even adults will love. Dylan is a spoiled, popular girl, more concerned with shoes and clothes and handbags than, well, anything. Josh is a film geek who worships at the altar of Woody Allen. They meet when Dylan's bag falls into the fountain at the mall her dad owns (horrors!). Josh rescues it, in exchange for her agreeing to star in his documentary about popularity at Castle Heights High School (which was also the setting for Palmer's first novel Cindy Ella).From there, the two opposites slowly, begrudgingly, get to know each other, peeking under the surface of their outward appearances, meeting each other's families, including Dylan's distant dad and Josh's hippie mom. There's tension between them, but we don't totally know if it's romantic tension or not. Dylan has a boyfriend but he's not really boyfriend material, to put it mildly - Palmer has a lot of fun, actually, with Asher's inability to spell and constant distancing of himself from Dylan.I don't want to totally give away the ending, but I'll say that while it's a happy one, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. There's plenty of drama and Dylan, a girl we readers love to hate for her being so spoiled, becomes someone we want to be happy. The ending ties up a little too neatly, but maybe that's just my sour grapes because I could've easily read another 300 pages of Palmer's witty tale. I can't wait to see what she cooks up next. Lovers of fairy tales, teen angst, film, and YA will be eager to tear through Geek Charming.

Curing asthma with a makeover is a bit...umm...I don't even know...I had a hard time getting past that part of the book. I also had a hard time getting past how freaking self centered she was...wow...but, despite all that, it was an enjoyable story, it could just use a little work.

Every minute I am looking at this book. It's one of those books that u absolutely cannot put down. It's shocking, funny, crazy, and overall great. I would recommend this book to anyone. I was sad when it ended and wished for a sequel. I love this book!

Bought this for my fiance, but it seems to be a bit below her maturity level (24). She likes them, but they are perhaps a bit juvenile she said. Probably best for a teen or pre-teen girl. Funny concept though.

This story was very sweet and make a great easy beach read. I really like how the story ended.

I thought this novel was pretty descent. Fairy tale novels can be so shallow sometimes. That's why I liked Tangled because the leading guy wasn't a prince---he was a thief!

This book was awesome. I really liked it. I thought it was a really awesome book. I would recommend this book to ANYONE no matter how old or young u are.
