Fast and efficient!
This will process cherries very quickly, and does not let one cherry pit get through.

It ain't perfect and the handle would make a great guided missile!
I had a much cheaper cherry stoner which I only used for about a month a year when dark cherries are in season. After about three years the plastic container cracked. It was still usable. Then the plunger began to stick. I tried to meticulously clean the thing with no result; it still stuck. So I bought this one. I suppose it should go without saying that no stoner is perfect and you should always be cautious after stoning a batch of cherries because I guarantee that there will be a few unstoned cherries in the batch. That being said, the most annoying thing about this gizmo is the way the plunger is attached.....or rather unattached. You slip the handle of the plunger over the business end of the stoner and plunge away. The problem is if you're not careful, the handle will fly through the air when the return spring brings it back up to the plunging position. I discovered this right away and was careful. However, one time I forgot and launched the thing all the way across the kitchen. It cracked me up! So I guess if you use this thing you should wear protective goggles and not allow any of your kids in the kitchen....not because they might get hurt, but because if they see how the thing works they'll steal it and start shooting each other.

nice an handy product
a sturdy an easy to set up product, it is a bit difficult on the extra large cherries but did a good job even tho with the extra large, I had to hand feed them in, a normal size was perfect to remove the seeds....with the extra large, it missed a few...best I could find, the plastic ones I think would have broken with the pressure I had to use on the extra large fruit.

Time saver
Bought 25 pounds of cherries and needed to pit most of them. This made the job SO much easier. It’s true that it misses a few but most of the time I was able to spot them. Small price to pay considering how long it used to take me when I pitted them with a hand held one. Very sturdy.

Plastic plunger sucks
This is a ‘good’ product and works well, but it has a flaw. The plunger piece is made of cheap plastic and when you ‘pit/plunge’ for a while, tiny little plastic shaving from the plunger sliding against the metal shaft come off into your bowl. For 75 bucks this piece should be made of firmer/harder plastic or some other non-cheap material that would not rub off to produce shavings. This would get a five star review, if not for this oversight....we did however pit two large bowls of cherries is very short order.

This is superior to the Norpro Deluxe Cherry Pitter in every way
This is superior to the Norpro Deluxe Cherry Pitter in every way. It takes less force, the pitting action is consistent and accurate, the stone bucket is larger, it is easier to clean, and there is LESS MESS! It also works with very large cherries. In 6 quarts of cherries I had less than 30 that weren't perfectly pitted. With the Norpro the gasket only lasted one batch. It was missing pits every 1 in 3... granted my cherries were larger than store-bought, and not perfectly plump either. Even so, the Westmark unit worked faster, easier, and cleaner.

for large cherries
Great for large cherries but didn't work well for the small sour cherries we were using for jam.

It made the job go like crazy. It is amazing how fast you can ...
Our cherry tree had a huge crop this year and I got this cherry stoner to remove the pits. It made the job go like crazy. It is amazing how fast you can pit a bunch of cherries. When I bought it I started to worry that it might not work because our cherries are smaller than the ones in the store but there was no problems. It does miss a pit every now and then so you need to be careful when you are eating the cherries.
