English Flint Stone for Flint and Steel Firemaking

The two pieces of flint that came as part of this order are of high quality and spark readily with my ESEE steel. I have been using a fire rod (or a bic lighter when I’m lazy) but this has really sold me on the reliability and sustainability of older methods. It takes some practice and striking the steel must be more akin to using the flint to cut “slices” from the steel rather than banging it together. Making char cloth (or any carbon based char material) is as easy as putting a tin in the fire or if you have not left home yet, 10 min in the BBQ.

Nice large pieces of flint. I had expected only one piece of flint and received two. Both are large pieces of flint with sharp edges. Tested one of the pieces with the striker I ordered at the same time and the piece of flint created a lot of sparks. Looking forward to testing this the next time I go camping!

Got three good-sized pieces of flint. Should last a really long time. Sparks well with my hand-made steel. Great price!

great pieces of flint i have started many fires with it. Some of the pieces were kinda small though. I got one huge one and 2 small pieces.

Seller should share product has imperfections. Not pure flint

Fantastic! So many sellers offer tiny pieces of flint that you can barely hold in your hands. These are large pieces with sharp edges ready to start fires. They produce great sparks with a good steel (also available from Primitive Fire). The price is a bit higher than buying in bulk, but you don't have any waste and you get what you need if you only plan on starting fires with it. Great find.

It's flint, not much to say, but was very happy to see that not only was it a decently large piece, but I also received 2 decently large piece. Got my steel out and it def throws sparks. If I'm ever in need of flint again, I'll definitely be buying it from here.

I bought this out of curiosity. I have numerous flint fire starters which all create a shower of sparks. I received two beautiful stones. Followed the instructions and all I was able to do was scratch up the stones with very little to no results. These are just a novelty item. Must be a very low quality flint.
