The best book written covering the Halberstadt firm's aircraft
Halberstadt Aircraft of WW 1 is a part of Jack Herris’s magnum opus German Aircraft in the Great War. This is volume 1 of 2 covering pre-war types through the C.III.The coverage of the pre-World War One types is excellent and represents the first time that these aircraft had been covered in detail.Nearly 70% of the book deals with the CL.II. However, coverage is almost exclusively photographic with only 2 text pages (and one page of tables) out of 140. The photographs are excellent, but those wishing a more detailed history will probably wish to consult the late Peter Grosz’s monograph on the CL.II. There are minimal operational details, and foreign service is limited to mentioning that the Polish Air Force flew “some” (the actual number is 14).There are nicely executed three views and color art work of the CL.II.The book ends with some excellent photographs of the C.III. Oddly, the C.I seems to have been skipped over. The quality of the binding and the paper used is well below what would be expected of a $50 book.Overall, this is the best book written so far on the Halberstadt firm, even if it is almost an exclusively photographic history.

lots of photos and profiles, and some editorial errors
A good addition to the Aeronaut family with plenty of photos and profiles of the CL.II. Grammatical errors. Photos and captions are repeated in the book in places -- annoying.
