Xotic SP Compressor

Comprime de una manera muy orgánica, además muy dinámico y musical, no levanta mucho el piso de ruido (no es completamente silencioso, depende del seteo).Los controles internos te permiten aplicar cortes en las frecuencias altas y también el Ataque y Release, adicional a esto, el ajuste del nivel de entrada (PAD).Es algo pesado para el tamaño tan compacto que tiene pero nada fuera de serie.Me funciona perfectamente para el uso que buscaba: Atajar picos y moldear mejor mis modulaciones, en ocasiones lo meto al Overdrive y aun así es (razonablemente) silencioso.Muy buen headroom para trabajarlo a 9v.Puntos en contra: El preset de fábrica puede ser algo oscuro, hay que quitarle el filtro Hi-cut.

Unbelievable. There may be better compressors out there, but I haven’t played one. Amazing sound and sustain right out of the box. The circuit with internal dip switches sounds heavenly. What a smart design. Just sparkling attack and tone. After trying half a dozen compressors including the Keeley tone workstation compressor and a Jangle Box I can safely say nothing has ever helped my tone like this little guy.My sound has become very transparent and professional with help from the Xotic SP comp. Running at 18 volts too which is a bonus for us who make use of isolated power supplies. Leaves room for another 9V pedal!

Este es uno de los mejores compresores para guitarra. Dispone de botón de volumen y de blend, así como de un selector para bajos, medios o altos, como puede apreciarse en la imagen. Además, quitando la tapa de abajo, pueden regularse otros interruptores para aprovechar mejor el efecto en diversos tipos de pastilla, ya sean single coil o humbucker. Quizá ese sea el "punto negativo", que para acceder a esos interruptores haya que quitar la tapa de abajo.

Pressed for time, but a quick review: Took me a while to realize the subtleties of a compressor. Finally made the decision due to trying to control dynamics and even out attack when amp master is cranked. Running the SP as first in my effects chain in front of a Blues Junior NOS, using a Strat w/Texas Specials. I did not expect the tonal aspects of this pedal. As a clean boost, this pedal makes my amp sparkle. Beautiful full, super clean tone with just the right amount of breakup for pick attack.Very solid and well built little unit with very good loocks. When you crank either knob, the noise floor is amplified; I think this is more of an issue with equipment noise, not the SP. The manual specifically points this out, so if you hear people complain about noise, it might not be a fair assessment. Important to know that it's very easy to dial in the noise by adjusting the knobs. I've been able to get the tone I want with no noise at all.Compressor evens out dynamics and adds sustain. I prefer the mid-compression toggle selection. Haven't played with the internal dip switches that affect attack. Not interested in this level of refinement right now. Enjoy playing with the volume and blend knobs -- so many great tones.Not usually into pedal aesthetics, but this is a sexy piece of kit. The LED shines through the translucent knobs and looks like eye candy.Only issue is that it's so thin it can tend to tip to either side with the weight of cables. Haven't been able to velcro it down yet. Only play in bedroom and cannot give feedback on stage worthiness.This is definitely going to be an always-on pedal. So glad I bought this. Unexpected all-star. Can't wait to try out more Xotic products.
