Everyone needs a small pocket knife. I have my dad’s Old Timer but I’d hate to lose it. This little knife seems kind of cheaply made at first but I’ve had it awhile now and I’ve opened a few packages. It’s surprisingly solid and it’s actually pretty solid for the size and price. I took the little shackle off. I can see using it as a key chain but I keep it in my pocket.It’s a nice little knife. It’s very sharp but I can’t say for how long. Generally Case blades are decent at holding an edge.Overall, for what it is, five stars. Now, if you compare it to a 4” blade four stars. A six inch blade two stars. You get the point? Point, knife, get it?

I much prefer drop point pocket knives. For one thing, when I whip them out and use them, they are less intimidating to others. They look like a butter knife. But this knife, after a touch up with a 4000 grit stone, holds a shaving edge. Even used it to shave some callouses off. I know that is gross, but things people do with pocket knives are sometimes that way. The fit and finish is good, but not top notch, so it is giftable to a pocket knife person, but probably not to the gentleman pocket knife carry person.This is a nice smaller sized utility pocket knife, which looks like it will hold up until I loose it, or someone steals it.One more thing, they need to adjust their sharpening jig, because the edge on mine got cut into the non-edge portion of the blade. I suppose that might make the blade weaker, but I don't plan on using it for a pry bar. But that is an example of the fit and finish which makes it less giftable.

The edges of the handles are very sharp, not comfortable at all. After 15 minutes of filing easing the edges of the handle, it is now just what I wanted. A small, nice, knife with a locking blade. I am using it for around the desk tasks, like opening letters and boxes. I think it is a good value.

This is one of the few keychain size knives I have seen that is actually useful (the other is the Spyderco Bug). This knife arrived sharp, very sharp. It also has no vertical and no lateral play. The blade is easy to open, and the lock is very secure. I can get two fingers on the handle and a third finger on the bail. This is a sturdy little knife, and I am well-pleased with it; thank you.

This is not a top-of-the-line knife, but it's not intended to be. This is a nice, basic knife, at a good price, and appears to be well-made. It has brass layered in between the steel frame and the "bone" handle, which indicates to me a little better quality...what I would expect from Schrade. I bought several of these to give as gifts to guys hosting a party for me. The intent is that they would get a knife small enough to carry on a key ring, but large enough to be useful. I am happy with this purchase.

I bought the Old Timer 10T to replace an Uncle Henry LB1 that, after carrying and using nearly everyday for 30 years, I finally broke the tip off of it. The Old Timer has a taller, heavier blade which is a plus and came very sharp. It arrived brand new, in the box, sealed on both ends by the factory. I found several small quality defects with the knife, but nothing outweighing the price. The rivets stick out on the Old Timer which keeps the key loop from being able to flip up over the blade - or under it if you are closing the knife. This is a good thing and I always felt was a design flaw in the Uncle Henry, as the blade would often strike the key loop when closing. As far as overall quality, the Uncle Henry in its 30 year-old condition is still superior except for the blade tip. With the Old Timer, the thumb lock is way too stiff. I actually bent my thumbnail back trying to push it down enough to release the blade to close it. I'm hoping it will loosen a bit with use. Otherwise, I might need to modify it. The handles are not cut evenly from side to side. One side is cut differently than the other (see photo). The key loop is bent with the tangs where it is riveted to the knife not completely flat on one side, making me wonder if it will slowly grind off the rivet head. The rivet on the key loop is bent as a result, making it, "lean out," on one side. Part of the key loop is scarred deeply, with the appearance that it has been hit with a grinder. There is also a deep scratch on the bottom of the knife, and a couple of scratches on the sides/handles. For the low price of the knife, I'm not sending it back or anything. I like to have a small pocket knife for general chores and will beat it up fairly well anyway. I'm just surprised how Schrade has degraded in its Old Timer quality. Maybe it is just the 10T line. Next payday, I'm ordering another Uncle Henry LB1.

a handy little pocket knife for everyday things

Bought this knife on a whim to go along with the big timer and it turned out to be an even better buy then the larger knife. This knife is very small but seems more solid than my other keychain knives . Lock up is rock solid , no play in the blade and razor sharp. I normally don't have a blade on my key chain as previous knives have not been up to standard but this one is on my keychain now and won't be leaving , i can't believe a small Chinese made knife has turned out to be superior quality than knives costing twice as much, I would definitely recommend this , just beware of the picture it is a tiny knife much smaller than the picture implies
