Very good quality drain and easier to install from below
The Good:Helps when you cannot get a pipe wrench around a large nut to tighten from below. Mine was in between the trusses and very close to one side. Being able to use a socket wrench made it a snap to install. It is well constructed and should last for a very long time. The fact it is made out of brass means it can be redone unlike the iron one that I removed that had rusted so bad it was falling apart where the pipe goes through. The Instructions were easy to follow.NOTE:I used silicone in the following places:1. When setting the flange into the base of the shower from above.2. Between the washer and the shower base from below.3. Around the pipe when pushing it through instead of plumbers putty.4. I ran a bead of silicone around the outside top and outside bottom between the pipe and the inside of the drain hole to make sure nothing gets around the pipe.I let the silicone dry for 1 day and was able to use the shower again after that. I was liberal with the silicone since the base of the shower has a very small amount of flex which will keep it from generating a leak over time. If you use silicone, make sure you clean off the excess from the top so it doesn't block where you attach the drain cover. The Bad:None

I've never had an opinion on a drain
The only thing I know about drains is that it makes things go...AWAY. As you can probably imagine, I had no interest in picking out a specific drain until I was installing a new shower. When I met with the plumber, he told me to purchase this one. When I compared it with the rinky-dink drain that came with the shower, I was duly impressed with the quality and durability. The plumber installed it and it looks fantastic! I couldn't be happier with something that makes my shower water go away.Oh, apparently this drain is stupid-easy to install too. At least, that's what the plumber told me.

quality product.
This is a quality product and the only product that would work in the very "tight", limited space I had to work with. I would recommend this item over the other half-dozen or so that I considered using. Glad when a good purchase happens.

Save yourself the effort and get this for tight access from below a shower
This is well worth the cost to fix a leaky drain in a tight location. My upstairs shower leaked through the kitchen ceiling, and this was by far the easiest option I had to fix it from below. Be sure to lubricate the rubber seal and fasteners, and tighten it evenly. I was almost expecting a leak after having tried other methods to fix this drain previously. I've had this installed for months now with daily use, and it seals perfectly. The grate removes easily for cleaning or drain maintenance. If you have access from below, I can't recommend anything above this.

Compression gasket isn’t tight and leaks
The compression gasket isn’t tight on the drain, therefore it leaks.

Very good, solid device that allows installation from below.
Installers of my shower had leaded the drain which required it be cut out , surgically, from belos in order to not ruin the pan. With that done, this was the obvious choice and it worked well -- no drips aftet three weeks of shower use. Time to put up new drywall on first floor under the shower. I can do this in confidence because this thing worked.

Great option when access is limited
Shower drain runs between joints that are only a couple of inches on either side. Could not get a typical brass nut type fitting to clamp to my satisfaction. The jackrabbit is a great solution since access is not an issue and all you need is a long screwdriver or nut driver. Time will tell if it holds up, but it seems very sturdy. Worth the few bucks extra cost.
