Effective for allergy symptoms
As a longtime allergy sufferer, I know how much better life can be with a bit of relief from the sneezing, runny nose, etc. These pills are quite effective for me and cost a lot less than some of the name brands.I also appreciate that, contrary to a lot of packaging these days, the directions, side effects, etc., are clearly on the side, and I do not have to peel off a top layer to get the important information.DO read the package, though, for side effects for this or any other medicine if you have not taken it before. The most common one is drowsiness, but there are also rare but serious one that you should know about.

Work As Expected, A Bit More Pricey
I’ve used Chlorpheniramine (generic from a big box store) for years for my constant allergies when they really kick in. For me, this works better than anything I’ve ever used, including the pricey 24 hour allergy relief. I actually prefer the 4 hour over the 24 hour in case I need to take something else, I’m not stuck for a day. Aside from actually helping my allergy symptoms, Chlorpheniramine doesn’t make me sleepy.Pharbechlor 4 Hour Allergy Relief 100 count 4 mg worked just as well for me as what I typically buy. The pills even look the same. The bottle was appropriately sealed and labeled. The expiration date is good for almost 3 years. I started to see a significant decrease in my allergy symptoms after about 15-20 minutes of taking one. These did cost a couple of dollars more than what I usually buy, so I had to take a star off for pricing. However, these will probably still be a buying option for me at times when I’m not wanting to deal with going to the big box store or having to make an excursion (ie 5 mile hike) to that side of the store if this is the only item I need from the pharmacy area.

Very old antihistamine, but recently recommended by my ENT.
Brief background on me and allergies: I'm allergic to "the world" according to multiple allergy docs, and repeated skin tests over the course of my life. Like I flare up to the max level for EVERY single allergen they have. I've gotten allergy shots on an off since I was around 12 (most recent 'run' has been about 6-7 years I guess).Having said all that, I have tried every allergy medicine you could possibly name, and a lot you've never heard of, through various ways, most of them legal. I would say 5% of the medicines I've tried have a noticeable effect on my allergy symptoms:1. Drixoral, which hasn't been made for years (was OTC, 12 hour pill that was WONDERFUL and strong, but I guess it didn't sell well enough)2. Any nasal spray with Astelin in it (works VERY quickly, and VERY well, but man it's nasty going in, and messes with my smell, taste and sinuses for about 45 minutes after I snort it). Also makes me drowsy3. Benadryl - works well, if slowly, but makes me pretty drowsyOn to this particular old school med - generic Chlor-trimeton. Now I'm not saying that's a great name, but the name of THIS version is almost comical! Pharbeclor? It reads horrible, and sounds even worse when you say it out loud! :DBut that's not important. What IS important is that the idea behind this drug is that it was to offer the same benefits as Benadryl, without as much drowsiness. While I agree that it causes less drowsiness than Benadryl, it also doesn't work as well as Benadryl, so there ya go.When I complained to my ENT that I was continually waking up at night with horrible allergies, specifically sneezing, and literally could not go back to sleep it was so bad, she told me to take this every night before going to bed. I assume her thinking was that being an older school drug, the drowsy effect would help with keeping me asleep maybe, while even if small, SOME anti-allergy effect given by the drug would reduce symptoms while iwas asleep.I think she was actually right, because it did cut down on my 3am "episodes" substantially, so I dutifully take this every night, now. I do NOT reach for this first during the day when my symptoms flare up, just because I don't notice ANY relief even with 45m of taking it (or at least if it does work, it's VERY subtle, and definitely does not work when I have a more serious allergy flare up).But as with many of these drugs, depending on your particular body's biology, this may or may not work for you. I personally prefer to just take the drowsy hit and use Benadryl instead, but if I am driving or something where I need total awareness, I will take this.

Wow. This works to reduce & eliminate my chronic sinus & ear issues r/t allergies
To say I suffer from seasonal allergies really undermines the amount of allergies I suffer from. I am seriously allergic to mold and haven't had many good days in the past several years, due to mold abundance in a humid climate. I have tried everything from sinus surgery, allergy shots, new HVAC system & duct work, & every medication out there. For heaven's sake, I had tubes in both ears to help with the constant pressure.Pharbechlor 4 hour allergy relief actually makes a dent in my sinus & ear pressure. What? There is no prescription for it, but it works. I have taken this twice in two days and have had ZERO allergic reactions. Usually I am sneezing and blowing my nose nonstop. This works! This works. I will continue to take it as needed.

I'll Stick With Equate Brand
The media could not be loaded. Nope. These start to slag the moment they encounter moisture and start dissolving in your mouth - typically it has almost completely dissolved before I can swallow it down. It is at least 1/3rd shorter than the Equate brand pill - they probably skipped the binders and saved themselves a few cents per hundred. In addition, it had little to no effect. I gave my husband these on the sly, to see and each time he complained that the pills were going to slush in his mouth and then a little later he say that he was still feeling pressure and he rubbing his forehead. We take a Equate brand one and within half an hour we start to feel relief.Yeah, I can get a bottle of 100 of what I normally get for under $3 at any Walmart and a number of other places, too. That's what I will continue to do.
