This desk is made from compressed wood chips. For this reason, the parts are very heavy. The desk comes in four boxes (2 relatively small & two 2-3 times larger). It took two strong men to carry each of the larger boxes up a flight of stairs. I wasn't sure which box to start with, so I just picked one. I learned that each box contained a different part of the desk. Each box had its own installation manual. The best part of these manuals is the diagrams which show each piece in detail. Although small, these drawings will help you determine if you have the right part, and are working on the correct side.My desk included two sets of drawer units, two large overhead cabinets with sliding doors, and the desk unit itself. Working alone, it took me about 7 hours to complete the project. By far, the longest and most complex part was putting together the two drawer units. There were many small parts, and dozens of fasteners of different sizes and shapes. You must be very careful NOT to over-tighten the wood screws, because the threads will not dig in securely if overtightened.The desk should be built as close as possible to where you want it to remain. As I said earlier, it's extremely heavy and difficult to move. Because of the material (compressed wood chips), I'm not sure how long this desk will last. We'll see....
