I was a bit skeptical this would work but it doesfor my cat6 cables.

The metal ears are essential for maintaining continuity of the shielding and drain wire for shielded CAT5e cables. They bend over the cable easily using needle nose pliers and provide substantial strain relief. Even if not using shielded cable, I would think this feature is useful.

Its been a while since I had to join Cat 5e cables. Take your time opening it up. No really, take your time. The indicators on the base make it super easy to wire. Note that you need a puncher. A basic plastic one I had lying around worked great.

I was installing Cat5e for my cameras and while drilling a hole to pull my cables in I nicked one with my paddle bit. And of course the one I nicked was the most difficult one that I pulled in. A quick search on Amazon and I found this Cat.5E Junction Box. Had it the next day and problem solved. Cable tested out great and camera is up and working.

This is a good product but very awkward to use. However got the job done and usable.

Great junction box, easy to punch down and mount. I purchased this to splice cable on the side of my house after running cat5e to a telephone NID in hopes that fiber would one day come (AT&T runs fiber to a box then cat5e into your house), however, that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon so I did it for Cat5e to my garage.Caution: A little difficult to open the box, be careful you don't break the plastic in the process. This is why it gets 4 stars. Great network performance after install. I purchase another one several months ago to repair another cat5e run, it is still working as good as they day I installed it.

These are small and things get crowded when terminating your cable. The circuit board is thin and doesn't hold up well to the repeated impact from a punch-down tool. A pair of these on each end of a cable run failed with no continuity on 3 of the 8 terminals. So beware of these if you're looking for a reliable, long lasting cable run.

Just bought a house with existing telephone wiring already installed. Fortunately the wire was Cat 5 ethernet. We needed to connect the outlet from one room to another. This junction made easy work outside at the telephone box. I simply pulled the two wires to be connected from the telephone board and punched them down to this. The connection is perfect.

A bit hard to open but helpful !
