Tops Fieldcraft, Review.
This is seriously the only knife you will ever need to purchase for survival use. Firesteel loop and firesteel were both included and installed. Also the sheath is capable of being carried in both the Scout(horizontal) and vertical positions. Craftmanship is 100%, comes with a serial number and card of authenticity. This is the REAL DEAL, for a very LOW cost EXTREME duty SURVIVAL knife. The seller had very low cost shipping($3) and it arrived in 3 days from order date. For $120 shipped you cannot pass up this deal, get it before it's sold out or the price goes up.xxxxxEDIT!!!!!!!!!!xxxxx12-15-12After owning and using this knife for some time I am a converted believer in both Tops Knives and this particular blade in general. I have since bought other Tops Knives as I have finally found a manufacturer that fulfills the requirements I am looking for in a knife. This is absolutely the most comfortable and sharp knife I have ever had the pleasure to use. This blade came sharp enough to push cut mil-spec paracord out of the box and it is easy to re-sharpen right back to that type of keenness. All of the integrated features of this knife work very well, EVEN THE SHANGO NOTCH. You have to use it right, as it is a very different process than most of us are used to (YOUTUBE it). For all tasks survival, bushcrafting, or hunting this blade will serve you well. Cheers and just buy the damn thing already.

Superb knife. Could ease up on the coating, but love this knife!
I really really want to give this 5-stars. I might change it soon. This knife is a beast with a delicate hand when it needs to be. I’ve done finer work such as carving utensils at campsites, hacked through some saplings, and batoned some really hard wood with it. It covers the spectrum fairly well (oh, and food prep... not bad there either). The striker on the handle is ok, but I have some designated strikers that I prefer to use, as I’m inconsistent with the one built in. The handle itself is one of the most comfortable I’ve held, and I have a great control with this knife. My big beef with this knife though, would be the coating. It’s very thick (imo) and textured, which creates drag when slicing through delicate food, or batonning, and other tasks. I generally don’t notice it, and it’s definitely not something that would stop me from buying it. I would buy it again even knowing about this issue to be honest. The sheath is great quality, though the clip can be uncomfortable AT TIMES. Not sure why, but some days, I’ll wear it for 12 hours without noticing. Others, i’ll Feel it in 12 minutes... not sure why it changes day to day, maybe it’s in my head, or just the pants/belt I’m wearing... I was deciding between this, and an ESEE 5, 6, or laser strike, and decided on this. I’m happy with my decision, and have no regrets (have used the others, they are great knives, but this is the one that won me over),

One fantastic field knife indeed!
I ordered this knife (got it on sale here at Amazon for less than $120, shipped) on 21 Sep, and got it in plenty of time to test it out at home prior to my 2 day/2 night camp out. I must say, I'm VERY impressed with the TOPS BoB Fieldcraft - quality of workmanship, design, and function are all 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. I've used it to shave wood for tinder, for batoning wood for kindling, whittling sticks down, etc. and it's held its edge (I've just cleaned it and stropped it afterwards). The knife has some heft to it - 9 plus ounces unsheathed, almost 14 ounces sheathed, so I feel the weight when carrying it. (I had been using a Mora "Light My Fire" firesteel knife, which is a hair under 4 ounces, sheathed). It comes with its own firesteel/magnesium rod, and an emergency whistle (which I've strapped on to the sheath using "ranger bands")...I'll post a couple of pictures on this site, if I'm allowed). It really *can* be used as its own basic mini-survival kit.Bottom line - I'm one happy camper (no pun intended). I expect it to last a lifetime and beyond.

Over hyped, over priced trash.
I hate it. I wish I could return it. Buyers remorse. This thing is comical. With the worthless notch in the bottom that doesn't work well to the coating that prevents using the blade as a firestrick. The modified scandi grind is crap and can't be polished well. The grip is annoying because of the firebow holes. This blade is an over priced hyped marketing stunt. Don't buy it. It sucks.

Does all the bushcrafting stuff without being too awkward to carry on your belt.
The price has gone up... a lot on these. I found youtube videos where the reviewer stated it was "around $100". Anyhow, inflation is real, and so is this knife. I've been wanting an actual bushcraft knife for a while. What attracted me to this was the grind, the thick, full tang, and the carbon steel. A lot of thought went into this design. If you are familiar with carving "feather sticks" you'll understand.

okay this knife is very nice but the edge will rust i batoned with it ...
okay this knife is very nice but the edge will rust i batoned with it wiped it off and set in inside the next day i had rust spots still havent came off but its still a great knife but youtube has videos how to blue this knife but you may not want to. i keep it oiled now the edge is razor sharpand the handle is quite knife. the only reason i put it under three stars is for you to check it other wise i would done a 4 or 5 star rating the knifes quite nice and useful just understand it has a small rust issue if not oiled splits amazingly the flint striker on the handle kinda sucks if you do try to use it keep it in the sheath as people tried to do it out of the sheath and cut themselves

A Winner!
This knife is built for the outdoors. Unique in it's class. Nice scandi grind, extremely sharp upon receipt, jimping on the top of the blade. A really solid knife.Comes with magnesium ferro rod/ shango groove at end of handle for scraping the rod, kydex sheath and TOPS customary whistle. You can rest assured this blade will serve you well, and that's not hype it really is a sweet knife for bushcraft. A little pricey but I believe you get what you pay for and it's made here in the USA. TOPS is a unique knife company that produces some really innovative designs.I would definitely buy this again.
