Christmas Grass - The Collection

This recording contains some great Christmas songs recorded by various well-known bluegrass artists. It also contains the first song ever recorded of Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent as a duet. It is definitely a great cd!

I ordered this album because it is different than any other in my collection of Christmas music. All the songs are good, but my favorites are the instrumentals on disc two. Everyone that enjoys listening to Bluegrass should add this to their collection.

Bought this on a whim to round out a collection for a long Christmas road trip. It ended up being one of our favorites!

I purchased this CD to add to my eclectic collection of Christmas music. I was looking for some bluegrass Christmas music to add to my collection and based on reviews, I chose this and the original Chistmas Grass CD. I am happy I did; the music is well recorded and has more than met my expectations.

This is a compilation that is made up of tracks from  Christmas Grass , Christmas Grass Too  and  Christmas Grass 3 . I bought the first of those, which was an all-instrumental album except for a vocal track by the Larkins, which isn't included here, although the Larkins are represented here by their cover of Christmas In Dixie (an original by Alabama, which was recently covered by the Blind Boys of Alabama on the tribute album  High Cotton: A Tribute To Alabama ). The other two albums in the series contain more vocal tracks and fewer instrumentals, but I did not buy them because my personal circumstances did not permit. When the circumstances changed, I bought this instead, but it's possible that I'll buy one or both of the other two eventually.This compilation features 13 vocal tracks and 15 instrumentals, but all the instrumentals are tunes that are famous and not just to country and bluegrass fans. The 13 vocal tracks feature Dolly Parton, Darrin Vincent, Jamie Dailey, Sonya Isaacs, John Cowan, Rhonda Vincent, 3 Fox Drive, Doyle Lawson, Sarah Jarosz, Larry Sparks, Ronnie Bowman and the already-mentioned Larkins.Of course my favorite track is Dolly's version of Christmas time's a comin', but she is at her best on this song. As soon as I saw that she had recorded the song, I knew she would be ideally suited to it and so she proves. Apart from the Larkins and Dolly, other standout vocal tracks include Tennessee Christmas (Rhonda Vincent) and O Christmas Candle (Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver), but I also love the instrumentals.This is an excellent bluegrass Christmas album and would make a great introduction to bluegrass for anybody willing to give it a try.
