Definitely squirrel proof but only lasts 2 years
Definitely squirrel proof, at least where I have it hung. It's been awesome. It's 2 years old now, but a few months ago, food started spilling out every time birds eat. I finally investigated... the plastic where they push their beaks in to get food (flexports) has worn away. So it's a great feeder, but it only has a 2-year life. I tried to repair it with tape, wire, and security ties, which sounded easy, but failed on all 3 tries. It's probably doable, but more effort than I've had time for yet. UPDATE: you can buy replacement flexports so this review went from a 4 to a 5! It's a great feeder.

The squirrels are angry!
If you share your world with a herd of “squirrelly” squirrels then this is the feeder for your beautiful birds. The squirrels can’t get to the seeds and it saves a ton of money since the squirrels can’t graze and throw extra seeds on the ground. I have recommended this to my friends! LOVE it!

Slow squirrels down. Does not stop them from figuring out how to get the seed.
It’s a fancy design and it does a pretty good job of confusing the squirrels and slowing them down a little. However, if you’re like me and you have incredibly smart squirrels, which most of them are, they will figure out that all they have to do is jump up and down on it to shake the birdseed out onto the ground. Like I said, it will slow them down, but that’s all save your money

Starlings NO, Cardinals YES!
This bird feeder is great! It has a large capacity and cardinals can still use it. I had a major grackle/black bird/starling problem and this feeder has taken care of it. With my old feeder the black birds would arrive in large flocks, eat ALL of my seed and keep all other birds away from the feeder. I'd fill up at 8am and all the seed would be gone by noon. With this feeder they have to work harder to get the seed and their bodies are so big it makes it difficult. The grackles/black birds/starlings can still get on the feeder, but only one at a time. They are no longer controlling the air space and feeders in my back yard. The smaller birds are loving this feeder and it holds enough seed for at least three to four days before I have to refill.

Bird "flexports" ports wears out far too fast!!
Perky Pet's line of bird feeders heavily touts "Flexports" which are small plastic "flaps" attached to each of the feeding ports of the bird feeders. The Flexports are designed so that birds can push through to access the seeds but the Flexports then close up to prevent the seed from pouring out. The problem with the Flexports is that they wear out quickly from the beaks of the feeding birds rubbing through the plastic. Result- the bird seed now empties out of the feeder so fast that the feeder is unusable [unless you just want to feed your birds with the seed that has fallen on the ground below the feeder.] Solution- contact customer service at Perky Pets via email [no phone number] and request to buy replacement Flexports. Probably less than $10.00 or so. The email response from Perky Pets is ridiculous, at best.... "Hello William, Thank you for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear your feeder needs new flexports! These are not something we have available as replacement parts. Your interest in them has been shared with our Product Managers. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, we're happy to help. Sincerely, Kathryn Online Customer Experience Specialist Woodstream Corporation” Now, since no replacement Flexports parts are available from Perky Pets nor seemingly anywhere else on the web [even though Perky Pets continues to advertise "Flexports"], I now have a worthless bird feeder. Moral: Beware Perky Pets bird feeders!

Squirrel proof, protects seeds but plastic over the openings wears out and it only lasts a year.
The only one I've been able to use that stops squirrels. It protects the seeds from getting wet and squirrels have to work too hard to get at the seed. Problem is the plastic covering the openings does wear out as others have noted here and spills seeds. The company needs to redesign and offer parts replacements. I'm a DIYer and am going to try to fix with some clear duct tape because I've always liked this feeder. Now that I've bought two other squirrel proof feeders they are too small for cardinals. I want this to work so badly since every bird loves this feeder but the company really needs to offer replacement parts for the openings.

Works well so far. Time will tell!
Seems good so far. Only been a couple of weeks. They don't sell replacements for the feeding ports which many people said get deteriorated over time. I only fill it about 6" because people say the seed molds. I just dump the excess in the yard when I refill it. Saw a squirrel try to get in it but it was too long for him to hang and reach down. He tried to chew the hanging wire and the lid which has a push-button and is made of metal so it can't be destroyed!! Kept him out.

Laugh at the squirrels attempts!! 😂
See a lot of reviews on this that aren’t so favorable however, I went through five different birdfeeders and then found this one and it’s a very good birdfeeder. The only flaw is the feeder ports deteriorate to nothing in about eight or nine months and then you start spilling birdseed out of the ports when you refill it and the bird start pecking at it. You can see it falling to the ground. The ports are $11 to buy four new ones to replace so overall that’s not too bad every eight months to a year spending $11 to replace those ports, I laughed, watching the squirrels try to get at the seed and were unsuccessful and they finally gave up and eat the seed that falls below it from the birds, pecking and engorging and wasting some of the food, but they eat most of it. One of the benefits is I have a few huge sunflowers growing in my garden now ha ha good birdfeeder the top does not keep the seed completely dry if it’s windy, rainy but they still eat it and when it gets empty every few times I will take it and dump the residual seed from the very bottom which they can’t get at kind of a poor design where the base should have a little plastic insert that raises the floor up to where the ports are so you don’t have an inch of wasted seed that gets old and stale. Other than that, it’s the best birdfeeder I have found and the squirrels get super frustrated because they absolutely cannot access the seed where some of these designs that are similar have a range shield lower, where the squirrels can grab onto and hang upside down and eat the seed not this one this is the best design and worth the money

A lot of the seed is lost when birds are feeding
It's a lovely feeder, but a lot of the seed spills out on the ground when the birds are feeding

squirrelmproof!
it is perfect. No squirrels have been able to access the contents. It holds a large amount of seeds; I use it for sunflower seeds. It works as well as my squirrel buster plus feeder, and cost almost a third of it. Also an added plus, the seeds do not flow out all over the place but stay in the feeder for the birds. I'm extremely pleased on all counts and definitely recommend this model. Thank you.

Les oiseaux semblent rétissants
Ça fonctionne bien contre les écureuils mais la mini ouverture semble deplaire aux oiseaux qui viennent bcp moins manger 😞
