SLS1422B Skylight - Shade Blackout, White

These shades work great. They are not a complete blackout but they do provide a significant decrease in the light coming in and more importantly, the heat coming in. Mine came in correctly with the blackout (darkening) shade.I used them on the two master bathroom skylights in my 2020 41' Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel. The picture in this add is of the back side, which faces up. There are no holes in the frame as shown, which is actually good. I removed the inner liner of my skylight and used it as a template to drill holes in the flange of the shade.Caveat: there is a gap on the backside of the shade that isn't taken up by the flange on the existing skylight. Because of this, if I just put the screws in, the shade frame would have dimpled in and looked terrible. I bought some 1/4" round spacers for a #8 screw that I positioned between the skylight frame and the shade frame. With these spacers, and longer screws, I was able to install both the skylight and the shade with the same fasteners and it looks great!

Installed this under the shower skylight inner garnish of my 2016 Grand Design Momentum 350M. This fit nicely over the trim of the existing skylight garnish. I had removed the garnish so just matched up the trims and drilled into existing hole pattern. Just finished the install so cannot yet comment on long term use. I like that it is not a complete blackout. Want to cut down some solar heat on hot days but still enjoy some light coming through. My skylight garnish trim measured 16x25.

Fit into place. A little flimsy on the plastic thickness. Also was not dark enough so I took a car windshield mat that was black and cut to size and it is totally dark now.

Works great. Our skylight is in our shower and this shade has enough opaqueness to keep the bedroom dark. Easy to install and looks great! If you’re looking for a blackout shade, this won’t meet your needs.

I installed these today and immediately saw that they are NOT BLACK OUT shades. They should be called dim out a little shades. I like how the slide works and the install works. I’m wondering if I can paint the curtain black? I should not have to do that for the amount of money I paid for these. The piece of insulation i was sticking up there worked so much better for insulation and for darkness.

It is amazing how much heat the shade blocks. Our rv has a skylight in the dressing area. It got so much warmer in that area; not to mention the light it used to allow in which brightened our bedroom earlier than desired.

Good looking and functional.

The box, which arrived inside another box, was pretty beat up and had stickers from other purchases and returns. It was sold to me as new, which was not. The hardware was missing. This shade does darken the room but it does not black it out though. The shade itself is made of some sort of waxy paper. I was not impressed. Amazon only partially refunded my money, they sent me an incomplete product and kept part of my money. Shameful!
