DataTale AU-S10X USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure for 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD (White)

I bought this enclosure despite bad previous reviews, I've used it for about 10 months now, and I haven't been disappointed. Installation is easy, although it's not a tool-free design, there are 4 screws, 2 to connect the internal board to the drive and 2 to keep the top of the case from sliding. It looks great, it has a shinny finish all around, and it comes with a pouch that can hold the drive and the cable. And it works great. It has a blue led that shines through the case when in use. And most important it's fast, I did check that it does support UASP, and with an SSD drive I get read and write speeds around 420MB/s, up from around 250MB/s with the same drive in a non-UASP enclosure.There are only two small annoyances that keep me from giving it 5 starts: first, the cable is a little short, about 12" including the connectors, so you need to keep the drive very close to the computer; second, the drive has a little wiggle room on the side opposite the connector, I had to pad it with some foam tape to keep the connector pressed against the case hole. So I think it's great for use as a case for a backup drive, not so great for frequent drive changes, where a proper tool-free design is more convenient.

The unit did not work at all. I could hear the drive spin up, but nothing ever appeared in My Computer. Case material is cheap plastic. I tried two different hard drives and two different computers.The circuit board inside has a little LED on it, but there is no hole in the case for the LED to shine through. This does not seem like a very well designed product.It does come with a nice little neoprene sleeve.

This case is well made, stylish and will work with any 2.5" sata drive, whether traditional HDD or SSD. The adapter itself is so efficient that USB 2.0 power is all it needs to properly power a drive, even a 7200rpm drive. Worry free operation!

DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY! Cannot function as a USB 3 enclosure. Drops connection under Windows 8.0 & 8.1 and corrupts hard drive on any large file transfer. Misleading description - Actually uses the problematical JMS567 controller chip, not the preferred ASM1053e like the listing says. Bad Product that does not work.

Item perfectly fits the two hard drives I had. This item is the best price for protection and features.
