The New World Live

No Billy Zoom but Dave Alvin was a great replacement!
Outstanding document of a X concert that was originally broadcast on WBCN , I was at the concert( Paradise Rock Club,Boston) and like I posted in the headline original X guitarist Billy Zoom was on hiatus from the band(He's pictured on the back of the cd case and in the enclosed booklet for some weird reason) but was surprised to see Dave Alvin of The Blasters was on guitar along with Tony Gilkyson , the band was kinda slammed by the critics after their last L.p and came to Boston with proof they still a great band especially in concert, old favorites along with some new songs from the " See How We Are" L.p really got the crowd going , Dave shines on the title song and as a added treat the band played some songs from The Knitters as encores( show was close to two hours), Keyhole records did a great job on this as the tapes sound like they are first generation, sure wish they'd release this someday on vinyl but if you're a fan,you can't go wrong with this 2 cd set, highly recommended!!

Great Show - keep the source in mind
If you're a casual fan, you'll do better with either "Live at the Whiskey A Go-Go" or "Live in Los Angeles". If this band holds a special place in your heart, you'll be happy to add this radio broadcast concert to your collection. I know I was singing along, and laughing along with the dialog/ interplay between John and Exene. A good time.
