Gospel-Centered View of the Importance of Work
I now read the book of Genesis in totally new way. Jonathan does a marvelous job illuminating God's original purpose for work and vocation. He then demonstrates how God commissions us as co-laborers and uses us through our work to accomplish the Great Commission. I highly recommend this book, particularly to a layman who has a full-time career.

Fastest Life Changing Read You will ever come across!
With time at a premium these days, this is a quick read with ENORMOUS impact. Every chapter has at least one statement the forces you to stop and recognize what you just read. This book is for everyone, for kids and adults. As you are reading it, you can visualize what life changes need to be made. I read the book in one sitting and made immediate adjustments that very day that altered the trajectory of my life, and that of my families as well.

Awful. Allegorical Private Interpretation
The author had some ideas of his own and twisted scripture out of context (constantly) to try to support them. Extremely disappointed. Excellent example, however, of eisegesis over exegesis. Awful.

Perspective shift. Work is God’s art; and it influences the reality around you!!
(As I write, my thought process leaves wiggle room for you and the many varying scenarios that might apply to your personal needs.)I read this to my children!!!I think tween and teens can vary tremendously by reading and hearing the principles that they matter, designed to shine, made on purpose and called to join into something bigger than themselves!! For my kids; I’m hoping that a seed gets planted now, and that we will cultivate a sense of honor towards work, vs. a punish or have to, but an “I get to!!”Also, it’s important to consider how to create boundaries around work. History and our current “hustle” culture hasn’t always afforded many individuals the option of creating boundaries around work. There’s a strong sense of fear/hopelessness/helplessness/drudgery that many(not all) bring to the thought of work.*This book is filled with aha moments, helping to relinquish the tensions of carrying on into something as well as giving permission to anchor deeper into the thing that’s at hand!!It’s not a “biased” perspective type of info. Just plain gleaming from scriptures!—- ——- ——We become what we behold!! The Kingdom of God is in you!!Freedom... All along we are cultivating! But what!? There are principles and systems that says follow this structure and you will find satisfaction in that structure/approach and the end it produces. God says follow me. I have a freedom to give. I’ll cultivate in you to produce, simply join with me!!Comfort. Not ease, but to follow according to the call, may it be whatever work- stay at home mom/dad, creative, homeschooling mom/dad, corporate, mission field, entrepreneurship, etc. A comfort comes about when the freedom is found in connecting with God and cultivating the God given gifts, and the God given work set before you. A comfort in knowing that our Creator lead you to this thing and will confidently lead you into the next thing, only that we show up and be open!Ok... that’s sufficient for the time!

Simple and concise
If you are new to the topic of sanctity of work from the framework of a Biblical worldview this is a great book to begin with. It provides a foundation for why work matters based on the belief that Jesus did not merely die to save people from something but also FOR something (hint, it's not limited to making money to give to the "church"). It's a good read that will leave you wanting to delve into more on this topic, which is great because now there is a study guide that is available to take you even further!

Insightful, powerful, provocative
Incredible encouragement for the 99% of Christians who are not called to paid full time ministry/mission. Makes a compelling theological case for the sanctity of work. High time for Christians not paid full time to evangelize to stop feeling like second class citizens. Great insights into overlooked, simple Biblical concepts like 'garden', 'cultivate', 'kingdom come', 'commission' and much more that challenge and encourage every believer. Some new Biblical threads articulated you will enjoy.Sometimes the writing is a bit dense. But the reward of digging in worth it. Do it!
