Easy to work with
Was very easy to modify it and work with. Used it in a motorcycle tank.

Good first impression
My application is a bit unusual in that I'm installing the unit in a custom made gas tank, and had to cut the access hole and pre-drill the holes for the self-tapping mounting screws. Before committing to using the unit I did a test to see if it would work with the Stewart Warner fuel gauge in the 1967 Jeep I'm restoring. I connected the positive lead from the gauge to the center contact of the sending unit, and clamped the negative (ground) lead to the steel disc. After turning on the ignition to power up all gauges I watched the needle of the SW fuel gauge while I manually moved the float arm through its full range of motion from lowest to highest - the needle tracked the arm position exactly. When the arm was right at horizontal, for instance, the gauge needle was right at the vertical mid-point. I made a doubled mounting backer plate with two squares of 20 gauge sheet steel, and drilled the screw holes. Be aware that most of these sending unit mounting screw holes are NOT evenly spaced; this is done deliberately so that there is only one correct mounting position if you are simply replacing a defective unit in an existing tank. This prevents the float arm from being out of position and hitting against the inside of the tank partway through its swing. The rubber gasket that is included is thick and flexible, so should provide a good seal without needing any sealing compound. The screws are of good quality and have a hex head, which is better if you need to use some force to get them to cut fresh threads, as I did. The instructions were fairly thorough, and included a chart showing how to adjust the length of the float arm and the main vertical mounting shaft for tanks ranging in depth from 5" to 22.5". There is also a description of how to adjust for a situation in which the mounting screw hole alignment of the fuel tank doesn't correspond to the sending unit. I haven't put the tank into service yet, so can't vouch for performance immersed in fuel, and over the long term.

Great factory replacement
I used this float assembly on a Cushman Truckster with a broken fue tank sending unit and I just cut the float arm to correct length and slipped it in tank and bolted down and connected wire and done. Fuel gauge works great now. Easy installation.
