NEVER EVER BUY THIS!!!!
We ended up building a fence. I would never ever use this again. We spent weeks trying to get it to work and so much wire and watched videos and researched online and when we thought we got it to work it would zap our poor dog while in the yard playing for no reason! Also when she tried to come into the house one time it zapped her! We tried all the settings thinking it was too strong but it was horrible. The one day it zapped her before she even got near the flags or lines she got scared and screamed! YES MY DOG SCREAMED! She got so scared she ran through the electric fence line and ran away we had to run inside turn the thing off and go search for our poor dog!! We thought this would save us money but all it did was scare our poor baby btw shes a large breed dog and a great dog we were trying to keep her safe in our yard with this thing but it ended up doing harm to her.

On the fence...
I am on the fence whether I am happy with this product. Our property is only about an acre but is all hillside. I was able to run the wire, partially attached to existing barb wire fence, the other part elevated above the ground attached to stakes as our grass level is high and needs to be trimmed. Once it is trimmed, I intend to go back and bury the line; but for right now it is a good visual barrier for our dog. So why only 3 stars, the collar transponder seems to only beep AND shock at the same time. Even following the recommended training protocol, my dog FREAKED out at the first shock and went whimpering back to his bed. I was able to persuade him back on the leash and walk him around the perimeter slowly approaching the wire at times to get him used to it. I think it will work but it is a little unnerving seeing him freak out. I did try the collar on my own skin a few times to make sure it wasn't hurting him; it is shocking but not painful. Given the terrain of our property, I am happy with the fact that this product is working with almost 1500' of wire out. It is set on the lowest setting (approx. 2-3) and still works effectively. Oh, and if you have any length of grass over 3-4 inches, the flags provided are a joke! I bought the longer set and they work a little better. But, given our wild grass, I am going to affix the flags to wood stakes a couple of feet off the ground so they are clearly visible.UPDATE: The receiver is lacking. Given today's modern technology for size and ability to make things waterproof, this thing is pretty sad. First off, it is big hanging around the dog's neck (and we have a medium-large dog). You want the ability to remove for times when you go outside the fence line so it dictates having two collars (another space issue around a large dog's neck!). Lastly, there is no mention of waterproof or water resistant in the owner's info. There is a rubber 'O' ring around the case but it doesn't even hold out any light splashing and the unit has shorted out (not hurting the dog) but rendering it useless a number of time already. We have taken it apart and used the rice-in-a-bowl trick to dry the water out and got it functional again but there is no reason why this unit shouldn't be waterproof. Lastly, the button to turn on/off and adjust shock strength just popped off (I believe as a result of the dog itching himself) which I would think it would be designed to withstand. So, overall, the unit is functional but only mediocre at best.

Nice idea but multiple problems
Set it up, the collar didn't work, they sent me a new one, that worked for a few months, then the console went out. Communication with their Chief Happiness Officer was always positive but terribly slow. Might work for a while, hopefully long enough to get your dog trained. Generally would have appreciated a call back and quicker resolution. Spend weeks and months iterating only to have it fail in the end. Danielle, if I'm mistaken, get in touch with me. Terrible product
Can you give 0 stars? This has never worked properly since day one. We've had to fix the main box many times as it keeps malfunctioning. The collar "blew up" and sprayed the dog with some chemical that filled our home with a horrible smell. We cleaned the dog and the collar, but the smell persists inside the collar device. I believe it to be dangerous to the dog. According to Amazon, it is too late to return the system. What an expensive waste of money. I am a huge Amazon fan, but am very disappointed that this can't be returned.

Worked briefly, collar very flimsy
UPDATE: I contacted the seller, they were very kind. The "Chief Happiness Officer" emailed me a nice letter saying that they would send a replacement collar right away. It came today. I am so surprised and pleased with how quickly they responded. I think the whole thing will be very effective now.Original review: It worked for a few days, then the button fell off the collar, which didn't stop it from funtioning, just made it not weather proof anymore. Then after a few more days, the shock part of the collar, the little black box that holds the batter and the shock posts, it fell off the collar, the other dog chewed it up, and the shock posts are somewhere in the yard. I didn't really expect it to be indestructible, but I had hoped for more than a week or two of use out of something for which we paid $225. I am hoping the company will send a replacement collar, so I will update my review if I can get a response out of the company. My other complaint about this product is that it took a lot longer to set up than the advertising let on. The wire didn't come coiled around anything, so my first attempt to string it out around our perimeter resulted in a horrible snarl or wire which my son and I painstakingly and time consumingly untangled. Please avoid this annoyance by first coiling the wire around some object so that you won't tangle it up as you unroll it. Secondly, the instructions were in poor English, and although I am a fairly keen interpreter of words, they were hard to make sense of. Especially the part about setting the shock collar level. We got it figured out by trial and error. Now if we just had a collar that wouldn't fall to pieces in a matter of weeks, we could let the poor dog off the run again. I feel that for $225, that collar should have been more sturdy. There is no contact number on the packaging or the instructions, although there was some mention of a help line. The website was also wierdly void of useful information. Help?
