Surprisingly fast for the price. It makes no sense at all to buy an i3 for the few hundred megahertz you're paying double or more than the Pentiums. Both i3s and Pentiums are dual core / quad thread CPUs with minimal differences in performance but drastic pricing differences. If you want something fast either muster up the extra cash for an i5 or just buy an AMD Ryzen CPU and motherboard. The Ryzen 3 is the same price as an i3 dual core quad thread but is overclockable and is a quad core quad thread just like an i5. Almost all Ryzen CPU's can hit 3.9 Ghz. Keep in mind Ryzen's don't have any intergrated GPUs as of yet so you would need to spend some more money for a dedicated graphics card. For some this isn't an issue since you can choose to spend a little more to get much better graphics than an iGPU like the ones in the Intel Core lineup excluding the high end desktop platforms. Keeping that in mind for the price of the Pentium you can't beat it considering the fact that there's an intergrated GPU too, which is more than enough for people like me who use these CPUs for home theater pc's and for pretty nice entry level gaming platform on a budget.

With an 1151 socket, you are preparing a build that most likely will last you for years. A decent motherboard, paired with ram and you are setting yourself up for success. Upgrade this processor to an i5 and invest a little into a decent GPU and you probably won't even have to upgrade anything else in your build for a long time.A great value considering a G3258 is currently more expensive, less current than this processor. it's not the piece of trash l thought it would be. my step dad has 2 computers, one of them l built for him and it's a server for FXCM (RIP) the other one was some cheap $200 HP (not to say HP is bad) junk heap that he got at best back in 2012 which has a cooked HGST hard drive, so he asked me if l could build him a new desktop computer on a tight budget. and l got one of these for that machine and it's significantly faster than that other piece of trash he had. it had an AMD vision E1 clocked at 1.4Ghz and it can barely run puppy linux without being a turd. l have no idea how he was able to run windows 10 on that thing, apparently it took over 5 minutes to boot and struggled loading pages on the internet. anyways, l played with this machine a little bit and it could do full HD video streaming and web browsing with no issues which is what he wanted it for. he says it's much faster than that other cheapo he had.

Depending on what you're doing and the gpu you pair with the g4400 expect some pretty good results. I don't do anything insane. I play world of warcraft, PoE, LoL. In WoW I easily 100+fps around high settings 1080p.Understanding what you do is important in choosing your processor and choosing a gpu that doesn't bottleneck your cpu. I have the g4400 with a 750 ti and it does all I need it to do. Without hiccups. Now if you're doing some heavy stuff like regular video editing, large amounts of multi-tasking, streaming. Things of those natures look elsewhere. I personally recommend one of the new ryzen cpus which does have lower per core performance but it's multi-thread performance is significantly better, therefore you can easily multi-task, have multiple programs open, easily video edit, stream etc. In terms of workload ryzen smashes a lot of the higher priced intel equivalents (not always in terms of pure performance but for the price you can't beat ryzen at the moment). Most important thing is performance to dollar. I recommend if you want to purchase a cpu to do your research, understand what you're doing. Google is your friend and channels like Linus tech tips will help you through the process.

This was a stand-in processor while troubleshooting why my desktop would POST, but would fail to load any OS at all. Not wanting to dump 320 bucks for an i7-6700K on the off-chance that it was something else, I went with this, a basic no-frills Skylake Pentium. Slapped it in, snapped in the stock cooler, and the machine fired right up (which meant that my processor had died - time to budget a proper replacement).The G4400 handled basic tasks fine, even handled some light gaming (Sims 4, Minecraft), but bogged down badly when demanding triple-a titles were being used (Fallout 4, GTA V and so on), even with reduced settings. This was expected, since it is a 2-core/2-thread unit (the G4560 Pentium hyperthreads, so it's a 2c/4t unit - and resides in my daughter's built desktop).All considered, for the price I paid, it did what I expected it to do and held up. Now that I've received my proper replacement CPU, the G4400 will be placed into a parts bin, while I figure out what to do with it next.

I've built a system and incorporated this CPU into it. My thoughts initially were that I would replace it with an i3 or i5. That idea has been discarded to date as the CPU has proven itself to be so good running both media, video, photographic applications / software apart from all of the other usual computer apps such as word processing, spreadsheets, social media et to a point that I truly don't see any point in replacing it. The system actually shows performance wise that I am actually getting 3.3Ghz of power that is flawless. A similar i5 would have cost me at least £200 more! Well recommended.

Great cpu for the money id describe it as budget skylake. Fits my needs perfectly low tdp mid range clock speed dual core with two threads runs slightly behind my i5 4460 when booting programmes, but its pretty indistinguishable, so for a desktop build this is perfect. I use this cpu with a h110s2 mini stx board, 4gb 2133MHz DDR4 sodimm memory in a small 15x15x6.5cm case - micro pc build, so for this build this cpu met my needs since it's a fairly cheap dual core skylake processor with 2 threads, so best for the price range in my opinion. Integrated 510 graphics so far can handle 720p left 4 dead 2 and csgo at 720p, have heard it can run insurgency at 720p but havent tested it myself, so it can game moderately. Would recoomend for a great performing budget desktop for work, uni or as a second pc. I can recommend this for a cheap gaming rig if paired with a decent gpu, however games are slowly removing dual core cpu support, there are work arounds, but it wont be truely future proof.Very happy with this cpu would definitelty recommend.Pentium gets more hate then it should.

Don't use AMD much these days, as Intel have ruled the roost at every price point for a while. The arrival of AMD Ryzen may change this, but at the business \ home user end of the market the Pentium is a great chip.Combine it with a Solid State Drive, a Gigabyte Motherboard (such as H110M-S2H0 and as much RAM as you can afford and you can put together a great system.It's Intel Skylake architecture, so pair it up with a suitable Intel Socket 1151 motherboard. Don't use it with Socket 1150 or other boards (such as H81M - it won't work!!

Good and it performes well, I bought it to update a bios on a motherboard so i can install a i7 that wouldnt work without that update
