Replacing a plastic one? Read this!
If you are replacing an existing plastic one with this metal one, keep in mind that the alignment on this one is more critical than the plastic. In other words, if you are hoping to use the same mounting holes on your door and trailer, you may be disappointed because the latch may not line up right. The plastic ones have more movement and don't need perfect alignment like this does. So, you may have to drill new holes or bend the latch all goofy like I did (I didn't want extra holes in my trailer). Knowing that now, i would have went with plastic like I had before. Looks well made though.

Nice catch
The double doors on my shed tend to blow shut even with a light breeze. I use these to keep them open. They work well, have been installed for a couple months with no side of corrosion, so I'm happy. Initially I had cheaper plastic ones, similar plastic to the ultra cheap clothes hangars we're familiar with. But just like the hangars, they broke easily, these metal ones are much better.

Happy Camper
We had to add this to our new Travel trailer. The door came without one of these and was not supposed to slam…. It’s windy at the lake so be decided to add this latch. It would’ve been nice if the hardware was included. But very sturdy and great value.

Holds the Door
These work, but because of the angles, etc., you may need to put a little dog leg in it. Easy enough with large pliers. Watched YouTube video where a guy bent it in a vise. Fortunately, the metal is soft enough that vice grips and channel locks will do the trick.

heavy duty, a small fab issue
the T at the end of the arm would not drop into the receiver slot. i had to modify receiver to fit. both purchased had same issue. seem to be well built, other than that. better than plastic

Very sturdy
Folks: If you're sick and tired of the crap plastic door catches on your trailers and fifth wheels that break and age out, then you need to spend some pocket change and purchase this product. Easy to install but one minus is they do not come with screws. Use Robertson square drive number #2 for ease of install.

Does what it is supposed to do.
Easily installed, works as it is intended, and a decent price, especially being installed on my older Tioga. No problem, and for that matter, almost all my Amazon purchases they took good care of me if whatever was bought was wrong or damage Amazon made it right!

So far, so good!
The screw holes didn't line up 100% with the existing plastic one, but close enough that I didn't have to drill new holes. I only replaced the female end so far, and the plastic male fits in it. NOTE: Many trailers use a proprietary driver bit, and you may want to try ordering one (TRLR or DBLSQ). You can also use a Robertson (square) bit.

They are ok
They do the job, they are light duty,i dont think the steel is protected with anything.I feared they would rust fast,so i painted mine.
