Homer Simpson used this for lake fishing, excellent!
Very effective, initially purchased the 40W version to use in the kitchen to great effect.Purchased a smaller version for use elsewhere.Need to ensure the red rocker switch on the unit is set to off before switching on at the mains plug, otherwise the electronics get overloaded (had to return a faulty unit due to this and had it replaced).Moths are attracted to the light at night outside the closed kitchen window from a few metres away!

Zap, Crackle and Pop!
I ordered a couple of these for my home which is on a farm and we get a variety of flying insects throughout the year. I have one in my kitchen and one in my office. they are a bit flimsy and bend easily but if handled with care this is no problem. The theory is the critters are attracted to the UV lamps where they try to settle and the high voltage kills them, they then drop onto the removable (but now a bit bent) tray below. some will land outside of the designated drop zone so be careful of what is placed in the near vicinity of the device; cups of tea, sugar bowls, and buttered toast are to be avoided.I have tried some cheaper alternative designs but they are next to useless, this is the real McCoy.I have placed one high up on a kitchen shelf, and in the office I have one just above my monitors. Monitors actually attract flies more than the UV tubes and I have changed my computer wallpaper to black in an attempt to guide my victims to the right light. I am currently working on a patent to incorporate a high voltage zapper into the monitor screen but have hit snags with touch screens....It is intensely satisfying to see the flash and hear the crack as another one bites the dust, especially when the B*****d has been buzzing round your head, running round on your computer screen or landing on your food prior to its demise. Some go easily, others fight it and need a couple of zaps, the meatier ones will sizzle and smoke likethat bloke in the Green Mile when they used a dry sponge. I am not usually a vindictive man and I love all of god's creatures but these flies bring out worst in me.So I will leave you with a dire warning: Never leave this by an open window at night, you will be horrified at how many moths there are in this world!

Works extremely well
Let's get the two bad points over and done with first. It came missing a hook for the chain. Also, the cord isn't long enough. If you count hearing a massive cracking noise every so often in the house as a negative, I guess thats a third negative - but it shows it's working. It's very loud, and although I'm not easily startled, this manages to do it.I initially put this into a family member's kitchen. They weren't after anything this big, but it's proven itself. The doors are wide open all day in summer, so insects naturally fly in and get stuck. Those that can be rescued such as bees are released outside wherever possible. When the evening comes, this thing comes to life. The light is really strong, so even in a big house, it radiates out and seems to get the flies into the kitchen. From there, it just hoovers them up. One reviewer said "Crack, fizz, no more bzzz" and I can definitely second that review. Only thing is that it seems to instantly destroy flies, so bits of fly tend to scatter around it as opposed to falling into the catch tray. At least it's effective, instant and humane.Only negatives are the missing wee parts and the cord length.I'm waiting for my own one to arrive. Due to where I live, flies are a problem, no matter how very clean my house is. Below is a link to my current fly zapper - it's far dimmer and less effective than this one.I'd recommend this product, especially for £35 or so.https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0027EWFLE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Perfect fly killer
I've tried many fly zapper things. Inevitably they all break after one season. This is amazing and you can get replacement bulbs. Everyday we have a large number of dead insects on the removable tray. The mighty crack that you hear when an unsuspecting fly is drawn to the light is huge and oh so satisfying. Guests jump out of their skin when they hear it. I live in the countryside and I have every type of fly. There are horses and orchards nearby. This mighty warrior gets them all! I wish this had been the first one I bought. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the last one I buy as it's what I've been searching for.

I was so looking forward to getting this but it is useless
I live in the countryside and there are lots of flies about in this hot weather. I can't open the window without being invaded so I was really looking forward to getting a bit of help in keeping them under control from this machine. I have had it on for 3 days straight. It has stunned 1 fly (which I then removed from the tray and had to dispatch of myself)! They are not interested in it at all, and the few that do fly in walk on the bulb and then fly out again. I left it on overnight and it killed loads of moths which must be more sensitive or something but my fly problem is as bad as ever unfortunately. I would send it back but my eager kids ripped the box open and threw it away as I was out when it arrived. I wish I had spent a bit more and got something that actually works.

Effective. Niggles though.
This is a replacement for a similar device so I know they work. Disappointing short power lead - much shorter than the recommended height so you'll probably need an extension lead. The chain makes it difficult to hang flat against a wall. The last one lasted less than 3 years of intermittent use - hope this one is better.

Good insect killer
Bought to send to home in Caribbean where it worked extremely well, although I was aware of the occasional snap when a bug was zapped.

questa è LA zanzariera
Assolutamente soldi ben spesi!
