Seasons of Moon and Flame: The Wild Dreamer’s Epic Journey of Becoming

A beautiful, artistic piece of wisdom
For as long as I can remember the spiral dance of the seasons has been the most magical calling to my own wild one’s heart. As I grew and stepped out onto the path of the Witch, it was this element that drew me most deeply; this sense that there was a way I could harmonize and fall into the flow of the natural world around me. Tuning in to those vibrations and patterns feels like the most potent form of Being I can experience in this life.In this book, Danielle Dulsky takes us on a wild tour of the wheel of the year in a vastly unique way; tapping into the bardic arts to weave stories with multi-layers of deep, ancestral wisdom. I especially loved the long-absent reverence that is paid to the hag archetype, the old ones who have gifted us with life and who have much to share in the ways of the world if only we are humble enough to listen. The crone or the hag — once so respected — has been shunned in society for long enough, and it was a joy to see an author grant this energy the prominence it deserves.Through working with this book, the seasonal shifts become their own inner landscape to be explored and journeyed through. Every tale that is spoken delivers another subtle meaning with every subsequent reading — as all good tales do, morphing to connect with each individual reader in exactly the way they need to receive it. Magic indeed! The actual work of the book involves much self-inquiry; a probing into the most hidden places of our selves and our ancestral past. Not only does this text stress the importance of remembering our forebears, but it conveys the idea that we too are ancestors to countless generations extending forward in the fabric of time. What a simple notion, and yet what a powerful shift to orient our existence in this vast web of life in such a way. Dulsky gently prompts readers to begin writing our own stories, inviting us to navigate the deep wellsprings of our pain and joys, shadows and light. She provides touchstone rituals to honor the sacred passing of the seasons, while also acknowledging that spiral-within-spiral dance of the lunar phases, and maintaining the correspondences of elemental energies and the four directions. In short, I cannot recommend this book enough. It is beautifully unique, engaging, and thought-provoking. I cannot imagine any two readers walking away with the same message once they’ve delved into their own inner landscape. I look forward to working with this book many times over as the wheel continues to turn, for the lessons will continue to spiral outward.

Everyone should read this.
I was blessed to have been a part of the launch team for this amazing beauty in paper and ink. And let me first start by saying: As a being in this human body, as a witch, a soul, a pagan, a Momma, an Earth caretaker, a writer, a poet, an ageless reincarnate, a Goddess, a Priestess, a being with breath, blood, and bone, this book spoke to it all. This book twisted like a spiral and my favorite ancient tree, and weaved itself into the fabric of my existence.I have read one of Danielle Dulsky’s other works, The Holy Wild, which also holds a very special place in my beating heart; but this, this came from a deep soul soaked unity in the bones of nature. A blood red pulse of memory, truth and root work of the deepest source.Sometimes, even as writers, we are stuck in a place where our thoughts and feelings refuse to release in the form of blessed ink; until, we gracefully are led into movement by words of a Sister or Brother soul, who’s brew of language sets us free. This book was that for me. Danielle speaks a truth I knew in my bones from even when I was a babe. Her stories and rituals are a coming home. If you start in the season of her book you are called to, and do the work, you will find that deeper version of yourself you were always meant to. You will come back to the spiral of life you’ve been longing for. But please, don’t stop there. This book can be a cyclical partner in movement, always, not just once. The stories in these pages I always knew, they are written on the roots of the oldest trees and travel by breeze, taking form in the flame of campfire spilling out into the hearts and waves of dancing witches. So in these moments of shifting, Earth healing, and isolation, the words adorning the pages of this book are a recipe for rhythmic remedial truth. Sit around a communal fire, lit from the whole of time itself and listen to the wisdom weaved in the words from each beautiful Hag. They are you and you are they. Their stories bring back lessons you’ve known somewhere before and if you allow them entrance, they will grant you access to wisdom long forgotten.Thank you, Danielle, for gathering us in a womb of remembrance and giving us space at these altars of seasons, growth, and nature’s ancestral wisdom. I believe this is a book for everyone. In these pages, is a chance to cultivate, grow and expand, season by season, moon by moon, in tune with roots of knowing and remembrance, evolving the space you are in on the spiral of life and time. Blessings Be, Sister.

A fabulous DIY manual, reference book and day-by-day companion for deeper and intentional living
Danielle Dulsky is a worldly and otherworldly storyteller and channeler of the great mysteries to which all energy belongs. Seasons of Moon and Flame reads like both a detective novel and a DIY manual for how to inhabit life as both ancestor, present being, and descendent. Aside from her prescient knowledge about tending and celebrating the ebb and flow of sun and moon energies, Danielle treats us to delicious word-crafting that evokes myriad images and ideas; she invites us to walk through the open door to the more creative, slow and connected world of which we are a part. She bequeaths to her readership "stories that breathe," that grow with us, that "spark more questions than answers," that gift us with "humility, curiosity, and land love." The back matter of this book is equally rich, including the reflection prompts, spells and rituals for the moon phases, one-sentence lessons and their potential meaning, endnotes for each chapter showing the rich bibliographical humus from which this book grows, and a fabulous index, all of which make of this book an incomparable reference manual as well as a blessed day-by-day companion. This book is meant for all who want to deepen their connection to self, to the collective and to nature.
