You just can't put it down!
Like any series by M. R. Forbes, you can't put it down. The story line is amazing and the characters constantly evolve to fit the story in such a way that you feel it, too!

A Good Sci-Fi Read
Starts off slow, then picks up the pace and never lets you go! The action never stops as it shifts from one protagonist to another to another!

Four books that would have made a great trilogy
Good writing, some editing slips (timeline - characters knowing things the reader knows but they shouldn't yet) - and WAY too much repetition and "padding." Good story, fun read, just really a bit too long for the actual content.

Allen
The way he brought the characters together and excitement he brought to the end leaving you wanting more. Looking forward to what Queenie is going to do next.

Great Read
This series of books had a very quick character development and a pot that actually made sense without getting too technical and crazy as many sci-fi books sometimes go south. Enjoy the ride!

Action and action
I liked the beginning of this series, starting with vague suspicions of corruption, leading to a good betrayal. Lots of action, and a believable female hero whose fighting prowess starts out plausible, and evolves as the story progresses. I like the rest of her band of misfits, especially Gant. Not Tolkien or Asimov, but fun and a fast read.

Really enjoyable scifi adventure!
Please note there are another 3 books after this set!I read the series end to end and really enjoyed it. The characters and story are great and the story expands and expands nicely from being seemingly about one persons injustice to a galaxy wide coup and then threat. The story revolves around Abigale Cage who is wrongly sent to prison and initially it's about her struggle to adapt and escape the reality that she's been put into. She meets a lot of characters along the way and the darkness of the story and situations is always lifted by the relationships and banter between the characters.Characters feel genuinely in peril and a few are lost along the way keeping you on your toes. The story progresses quickly and it keeps you hooked. There are some surprisingly dark moments and twists along the way with a few moments of "how are you writing yourself out of this then" thrown in.I preferred the early books in the series where there was more mystery about the situation and enjoyed the unravelling of the strands and threads. The religious aspect didn't really do anything for me and i'd have preferred the story without it. The last 3 books where not as enjoyable for me as it felt the story was dragging out and the story over the last 3 books was really quasi religious filler that did very little for the overall story. With that said i read every book from start to finish and although a bit relived to finish in the end, thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters and would recommend it

Fabulous military romp
Very enjoyable read, and I enjoyed almost every moment. Forbes obviously has an amazing imagination, one that their writing, though very good, can't quite match. A little to much deus ex machina for my liking, especially from the machina in femina. In common with others of their works, the non-primary characters, of which there are many, are quite two dimensional, and they can be hard to keep track of, especially as many of them have two different names, used interchangeably.

Okay start but overall very enjoyable. There are also books 5-7 in this series though!
Thought there was a bit too much army jargon with not enough information relating to it at the start. After that it became more & more enjoyable. Possibly went on for a bit too long overall (I'm talking about the whole 7-book series) but I still really enjoyed it!
