Great book!
This book was a gift for one of my sons--we are a family of HUGE sports' fans. Sparky was before his time, but being a baseball fanatic, he knew about him. He couldn't put this down---read it in one sitting!! He is currently passing it around to his dad, then brothers, who all can't wait for their turn!!Gommy of 6

Great book
Every CEO, teacher, and school administrator should read this book. Mr. Anderson continually stresses the importance of how you conduct yourself and how you treat people. If you want to be a true inspiration to others, then read this book.

Very good book
This might not satisfy you on all levels, but you don't buy this book unless you are a Sparky fan, so it is a must have. Sparky was the man, and this is a good book to pick up every now and then and flip through for a good read.

Greatest Baseball Legend
Sparky Anderson is a true baseball hero, more managers should aspire to be like him. Love of the game, not love of money...wish I had known him personally.

Tried to like it.
Let me start off by saying that I am a huge baseball fan. I grew up playing baseball and love it so much. I have read a lot of great books written by players and managers. I bought this book hoping to learn something from the great Sparky Anderson. I tried to like this book but I had two problems with it.1) Sparky says not to make life about money. I agree with this statement 100%. My issue with it is that the people who say "do not make life or a career about money" usually have lots of it. Sparky was a manager who made a lot of money and yes deserved it. But at the end of the day he was just a baseball manager. Everyone who doesn't make as much as him wishes they had a job that allowed them to be involved in the game of baseball and get paid significantly.2) The first 30 or so pages just talk about the MLB strike during the 90s. It also talks about how Sparky stood up for what he believed in which was not coaching the replacement players brought in to continue the season. I respect Sparky for standing up for what he believed him. But if really cared for the game of baseball he would have worked with players to reach an agreement and he would have also thought of the fans, who as mentioned above, do not make as much money and look forward to some kind of baseball.

I Love Sparky(But not this book)
I was very disappointed with this book. I love Sparky but I don't really need a lesson on how to treat people,Mom did a fine job with that. This book tells you very little about his amazing career. Instead Sparky tells you something on how to behave and then the author promptly repeats it. If you are trying to figure out how to raise a kid then by all means buy this book. If you are looking for information about Sparky's baseball career save your money.

More philosophy of life than baseball, but a good read
I bought this book for research purposes. Sparky's co-author does a good job with that, but Sparky's contributions to this book are mostly philosophical musings about life, personal responsibility and good citizenship. If you like Sparky Anderson and baseball, it's a good read.
