This is an AWESOME BOOK! The lessons in this GREAT BOOK can enhance your personal and professional life, well worth reading and applying the lessons from it in your life.

I wanted to read page after page. One of the very few books I have read and I return to. When traveling or have appointments I will grab. Opening to a random page I will realize an area in my life that is causing me stress is easily improved with such a simple change. The author keeps my attention as if I were watching a movie. Sometimes it is a heartbreaking moment while others make me smile, but I am always eager for the next pages. Reading this is like sotting on the porch with a cherished grandparent and listening to the stories of simple but powerful solutions of true hardships, laughing at the silly decisions made while light bulbs are coming on in your head. Any age from teen up can relate to the stories and have the inspiration to shake it off knowing the only looser is the one who gives up. My and others lives have been improved by my reading of thiss. I have made changes and I have told others who made changes in the way we see the problems and think about them. Purchase more than 1 so you have yours and you can pass to someone you want to succeed!!

This book was easy to read and full of insights andwisdom gleaned from the authors father.Even though his father was forced to leave school ata young age to work at the family farm/home he livesa full, meaningful life.The insights shared are still appropriate for today'sgeneration.

I happened to hear Dr. Rigsby one Sunday morning and he immediately became my all-time favorite speaker. The audience sat spellbound as this master communicator shared lessons he had learned from his dad. The story does not translate as well in written form as when you can actually hear Dr Rigsby share. However, the lessons shared in this book are timeless and much needd for every generation. I believe every high school, college student and young professional needs to make time to read this book. The rest of us can benefit as well.

After seeing a video of the author sharing wisdom from a third grade dropout in a commencement address, I immediately bought the book and read it. Since I have several hundred books already on my Kindle, I don't usually add new books unless they're free. But I was so impacted by the speech that I couldn't wait to read the book. That demonstrated the theme of the book--make an impact rather than an impression.The book didn't have quite as much impact as the live speech, but I wasn't disappointed. Rick Rigsby learned how to stand firm from his father, a third grade dropout who manifested character and integrity. The wisdom of his father's generation has been lost in later generations, and the author wants everyone to have the common sense--and above all, the common decency--that he learned from his father's word and example.I'm only a generation younger than his father, and I was raised with the same values by wise parents who exhibited utmost integrity and character. Everything the author wrote resonated with my own experience. How much better our society would be if younger people learned this wisdom.
