to name a few but have enjoyed listening to Maxi Priest because of his mellow accessible ...
It has been a while since I had heard from Maxi Priest or listened to his music. I have not learned to appreciate Reggae music but have a few artist in my collection (Third World, Black Uhuru, Ziggy Marley, Tarrus Riley and Etana, to name a few but have enjoyed listening to Maxi Priest because of his mellow accessible sound. This CD does not disappoint.

Just OK to me.
Not a bad CD, not the best I have heard from My man Maxi Priest. There are a few standouts on this CD but not what I was waiting for after such a long hiatus!!! I am a fan and I am still happy to see you back but I was left wanting more ........

Nope! skip this one...
Well, that's a shame.I got the 'twelve' of Maxi's very first recording, after which he went on a 'commercial run' before going to JA and making reggae again (if yu know, yu don kno') he has a lovely voice. This recording seems a return to that commercial phase - that's ok, I understand, one has to make a living.I heard a track in the barber shop, in the midst of a version excursion, which caught my attention so I thought I'd pick up the album - not realising that in this recording Maxi had regressed to a more commercial posture. Again, no problem! As I always prefer buying artists albums rather than compilations, I'm prepared to take a hit for just 1 or 2 decent tracks, that's how it is with my vinyl generation.Anyway, as I played cd I was appalled at the overall quality of the recording - lifeless, bland, boring - I was immediately reaching for the tone controls to try and simulate some dynamism in the playback, as the radio DJ must have done to sweeten the tune I was listening to.As I played through the cd, I was surprised to find that Maxi Priest had covered a stone cold classic Lover's tune - John McLean's 'If I gave my Heart to You', well... that is was one heavy, heavy recording (Mad Professor on Ariwa, if I remember correctly), the original being a fabulously mixed, dynamic, strong, classic and if you haven't guessed - one of my faves. Sadly Maxi didn't give this recording his best I think, and as such, in my opinion the life is squeezed out of that beautiful standard by a lacklustre arrangement and below par sound engineering which, incidentally, the whole cd suffers from. The entire recording, without exception, feels rushed, ill thought out and 'second best'.Not for me - fancy buying a second hand copy?

VERY easy to love !!
Why anyone would give this piece of work any less than 5 stars is totally beyond me. This is one beautiful CD. From the very first listen , I drove for hours on my own so no one could speak over it..... It's THAT good!! It's a stunning collection of well crafted songs and it's the best CD I've bought in a very long time. Mr Priest, you owe me one tank of petrol :-)
