Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and Thirties Paperback – May 6, 1996

Most of the principals here I learned early on from my parents or first year or so working. I was looking for something with more substance in investment strategy, but it does lay out some basics. Some good medical, insurance, tax tips, etc that everyone should know too. All in all, very easy and pleasant read - book is broken into short sections so it's easy to pick up for ten minutes or so and come back at a later time. I recommend this to most new grads who're new to working or living on their own.

This is a very basic book that spells out some fundamental concepts. I read this book wanting to learn more about investing and retirement (it was recommended by some friends). The book is not very useful for what I was looking for, but it was nice to read a broad overview of finance in general. Insurance, Tax, Savings, etc... are rolled in to this. If you have a grasp on finance already, I would pass on this book (or borrow and skim it). For young college students or grown ups that only know how to spend money - this is a great book. It is very easy to read, has many examples, and can point you to the proper ways to save money.

I am a 22 year old college student who is just finishing up his senior year in college. I just recently asked myself what I was going to do after I got out of college. As of right now, with the shape that the economy is in, I'm scared as hell to be tossed out into the real world and fend for myself. This book gave me insight to the basic principles of self financing and I believe I now how a better understanding to the basic to keep me financially stable after I graduate!

Read this for a college course in family finance. The book is pretty good with basic knowledge on wise financial investments.

I am 28 years old and I wish someone handed me this book when I was 15. I truly believe reading this has given me a strong foundation for financial success!

Very good explanations of the financial world for someone who is new to it all. I definitely recommend this to someone just graduating from college, or even in college wanting to get a head start on the nasty world of banking.

I thought that this book was good in introducing me to managing my money, but it still left me with questions unanswered.

I was embarrassingly financially illiterate, and this book was a huge help for me. I still sought professional guidance on my specific financial needs, but this book was great for giving me the baseline knowledge I needed to even have those conversations.
