Great info-the breastfed bible
Love that it has ALL the answers, not super excited that it is like a copied supplement from college. The pages are copied like from a copy machine, black and white. Wasn’t expecting that.

Full of Information, Great for Doulas in training
I'm a postpartum doula-in-training. This book was part of the reading requirements for certification and is a great source of information on breastfeeding. It covers every topic imaginable, including babies with clefts, etc. A great source for anyone breastfeeding or exploring the facts and benefits of breastfeeding. Recommended for about-to-be moms who have some fears about breastfeeding or want more information about it.

It had a tear and a stained page, but all pages are intact. The information laid out inside is clear and non-judgemental.

A Good Resource for Breastfeeding Issues
Since coming home from the hospital I had a myriad of issues while exclusively breastfeeding. First I had severe soreness and cracking and bleeding. That eventually led to a clogged duct and infectious mastitis. Later, I had what I though was thrush, but turned out that I was allergic to my breast pads (Lansinoh Brand). So, after some tears and a lot of pain, I really was losing some hope that it was going to ever be comfortable to breastfeed. After one particularly trying day, I decided to order this book.I found that most of the information that is in this book is also available online for free, however it is nice to have it all organized and focused on each particular problem. It is designed so that you can easily figure out what issues you are having and how to best treat them. Though I can find the info online, often it is such a burden to sort through the mass of sites, and it is calming to just flip through the index and go directly to the info in the book.I had previously read the book "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" which is by the same group, and found that it was really a great intro with many anecdotes, but lacked the technical info that is found in this book. Once I received the book, I realized that it was intended for nurses or lactation consultants as a reference guide, and I found that really soothing to know that I would have the same answers at my fingertips.Eventually I sought out a lactation consultant to help guide me a bit more, but found that I was doing ok on my own as it were. Once I got over all of my ailments and had more confidence in what I was doing right, I finally finally got to a point of less pain and now four months later am continuing to exclusively breastfeed with no more pain. The book served as the reference guide that gave me the best quick answers to my several issues I was having while breastfeeding.

best resource on breastfeeding
This book answers just about any question you could come up with about how to successfully breastfeed your child. It is written for a leader to help others, but I like it as a reference for myself. Good index, easy to find the information you need.

Must have for everyone breastfeeding
I bought this book 3 months into breastfeeding and wish I had it at the beginning as I had a problem with low milk supply. This book told me things that the breastfeeding consultants didn't. I feel had I had this book I wouldn't have had any problems breastfeeding. If you are thinking of breastfeeding this is the only book you need to buy. I can honestly say that because I spent a fortune on them until I found this book.

Extremely helpful book
This is a great book and should definitely be read during pregnancy. It has been written for the healthcare professional or counsellor but should be read by anyone who wishes to fully understand the process of breastfeeding. I found that breastfeeding is not necessarily straightforward even when everything is going "normally", and this book helped to explain the changes that can occur from day to day and week to week. Even having attended workshops and read the "basic" books I realise, with hindsight, that I had no real grasp of what breastfeeding would be like. My midwife gave me a copy of this book when I had some difficulties after my first son was born but within aweek I'd ordered a copy for myself. I "revised" it before my second son was born and realised that everything it said was true!! If you don't have the support of experienced family members or your healthcare professionals were "bottle-feeders" then it's invaluable to have a resource like this book available. I would urge anyone who wishes to feed their baby to buy this book and read it before their baby is born - although it is a big text, the chapter on the early weeks is essential reading. It is easy to waste money when buying books and equipment etc before your baby is born but this book is worth it's weight in gold.
