This is a great book for bi-lingual children
I am a first-grade ESOL teacher in a predominately Hispanic school. This is a great book for bi-lingual children. It is a traditional fable in an Mexican setting. Although written in English, it includes Spanish names for all of the animal and human characters thereby engaging Spanish speaking children and validating their language in a an English-speaking school setting. The children also enjoy the story and are able to determine the lesson or morale--if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish great things. I highly recommend this book, particularly to other ESOL teachers.

Great kids book!
Nicely written and beautifully illustrated children's fable. Everything you want in a children's book. I'm giving it to my grandaughter!

Nicely told
Illustrations are lovely and friendly and the fable is nicely told. For some reason it reminded me a bit of the gruffalo (prob. more like the little red hen!).. Little Red Ant is smaller than the other ants, but finds something they don't - a big cake crumb, but he needs some help to carry it. Noone will help so in the end he realises he CAN lift it himself, eats it and hey presto! he's as big as all the other ants. There are a few essential Spanish words littered throughout, and a nice touch at the back - dictionary/pronunciation at the end for those words. In all, a feel-good book to share with layers of messages for children 5-10.
