A Book that Has Doubtlessly Facinated Our Young Reader
The media could not be loaded. A4 sized hardback with very good quality graphics, brimming with images and colourful enough to inspire youngsters to help nature. There's a good mix of both, colour illustrated images and photographs. Theres plenty of resource here to engage children from the age of 5 to young teens. There are a huge variety of things that I've also learned from this well put together bookOur daughter is five, she has taken this up to bed for her night time read and relays the details back over to us at breakfast. The language is uncomplicated and the description are split into paragraph-sized captions directly under the corresponding images.164 pages, comprising of a 2 page glossary of difficult terms, a 2 page index and a single page dedicated to referencing images used. The book is broken into colourcoded categories as follows:• Oceans of the World• Prehistoric Oceans• The Ocean Environment• Ocean Life• Coasts and the Intertidal Zone• Offshore Margins• The Open Ocean• The Deep Ocean• Islands• Polar Oceans• Ocean Exploration• Using, Abusing and Protecting the OceansAbsolutely being devoured by our little one.5 stars

Great book filled with facts
This is a really nice looking hard back book with nice welcoming graphics and a quality finish on the cover. There are 164 page in the book with loads of illustrations, photos and artwork that really bring the content to life and are perfect to entice those inquisitive minds into reading the accompanying text. While it does cover ocean life in a significant way (which is certainly my sons favourite element) there are sections that cover geology, geography, history, sustainability and so much more. This is a great gift for any child (or adult for that matter) who has interest in the topic and really is packed with fun facts to learn.

Beautiful book
A really great hardback book by the Lonely Planet. Not only does it provide information about ocean dwelling creatures and their habitats, it has chapters dedicated to the geography of the ocean, its prehistoric origins, maps of the world's oceans and touches on current environmental issues such as ocean pollution and conservation. Each page is packed with information split cleverly into manageable chunks interspliced with beautiful photographs and illustrations rather than reams of text. For slightly older children perhaps 7+ although my toddler and I have enjoyed looking and discussing the book too, Definitely one I have a feeling will be an invaluable aid for future school projects.

Lovely book jam packed full of info - will suit an avid reader of facts!
This is a really good value book. Each page is absolutely jam packed full of detailed facts about the oceans. This is definitely better suited to an avid reader, and might be a bit overwhelming for some. But if you need something for a child to get their nose into for a decent length of time, and want to really understand more about the oceans, we'd heartily recommend this.
