Highly suggest you pass this one over. Unit operates by turning a very small PLASTIC turbine to determine water volume. I "had" one installed in my heated pump house connected to my u/g sprinkler system (6 stations, 2 lines/station & 5 or 6 sprinklers on each line). Because I have a high static/low volume well (at rest - water level 35 feet. Irrigating 30 min @ max volume - water level 135 feet. PUMP IS SET TO A DEPTH OF - 135'.My 1 1/2 hp sub pump will suck air in less than 30 min. Installed a dole valve that was supposed to only allow 10 gal/min no matter what the pressure - but it did not take care of my problem. Installed this meter. I measured the gal/min going past this meter and adjusted sprinkler nozzles at each sprinkler so it would not go over the 10 gal/min barrier. First year unit worked flawlessly; solved my gal/min problem! Better yet, if a line or sprinkler was damaged, I could tell which line had the problem because it would be drawing more water than it should - very cool.If pump sucks air very long or very often it will burn out. Cost to replace pump - $800 in 2012. So it is very important for me to know how much water I am moving! To learn this lesson I had to replace the pump 2 times. $$$Winterized system. Pump house never gets below 45 degrees.Spring - bring system online. Two months into its second year the plastic turbine that measures the water flow malfunctioned, which of course makes this a very expensive coupler!I contacted the company that made the device. The representative I spoke with listened to my story then told me there was nothing the company could do except sell me another one - at retail price! So now I have the must expensive coupler that I have ever bought. If the company would make the turbine and bearings out of quality material I would swear it would easily be worth the $300 plus price tag. But this inferior design, terrible customer service - I wouldn't pay more than $20 and would expect it to work for a few years. $300 plus - this should last a lifetime and the company should be proud enough to stand by their products. Very disappointed.Do yourself a favor. DO NOT BUY THIS METER!M Gustafson
