Product Description New York City is where guitarist and singer/songwriter Peter Malick first discovered the then little known 21-year old female sensation Norah Jones, at a club on New York's Lower East Side. Together Malick and Jones recorded 6 tracks before she signed to Blue Note Records and later becoming one of the biggest music sensation in America. Peter Malick's NEW YORK CITY features these 6 recordings plus 4 new compositions. Described by Malick as "the intersection where B.B. King meets Lou Reed." Review Anyone who's ever wanted to hear Jones raise her temperature from simmer to sizzle will welcome 'New York City.' -- Boston HeraldHer (Norah Jones') grainy, older-than-her-years sultriness is so perfectly received and sent out again, it's impossible to dislike. -- Rolling StoneIt's more mainstream than 'Come Away With Me', but fans of that album should cotton easily to Jones' work here. -- All Music Guide, ****

It's Sooo Gooood ! ! !
That Aug. Sun. evening TV news had a wrap -up of the music in upstate NY. Wanted to go but pretty expensive for a16 year old - who knew it would end up being FREE ? Would have loved everyone from the OPENING to the FINISH ! After the news, a friend and I left the Mid-Atlantic, hitch-hiking to grandparents in the Mid-West...meeting many still heading to NY- we tried to tell 'em we thought it was over- but you know hippies on the highway. Tonight watched video of Neil Young "After the Gold Rush" last month at " Woodstock " saw the show in Great Woods MA a few nights later where he started with it & by luck I was there close, watching with tears a streaming. Anyway Ms. Jones with the PnB Trio opened the event and I've yet to hear anyone / anywhere with more diverse singing / musical talent. Received an e-mail from my child today saying simply: " you can , now, call me Dr....." As a very proud parent I'll celebrate with a VO & 7 as I listen to THE PETER MALICK GROUP featuring NORAH JONES THE DELUXE COLLECTION having recently received it - it is my very most favorite album - it is sooo gooood (If Dick Clark were asking, I'd have to say : A TEN - ' cause you can really dance to it.)

An album you need
I heard one song off this album and became curious about the rest of the album. Glad I added it to the collection.

Great music but TOO short!
This is a great CD in that the music is outstanding. Nora Jones fans will love it. However, I couldn't give it a 5-star rating because there are only 7 songs on the disc, with the last track a repeat (radio edit) of the first track. So it essentially has 6 songs!! Since there is one track I don't like, this is now a 5-song disc for me. No disc should only have 7 songs! I am glad I only paid $8 for it.

very interesting
This is an album of material that Norah Jones did before she became a star. A lot of it is repetitive, but there are a handful of songs, Strange Transmissions in particular, that are virtually hypnotic. You may not need the complete Deluxe collection of the New York City albums, but it was right for me. Norah is such a fascinating singer that you just feel compelled to listen to her.

Falls short
Order another latte, because a third meaningful Norah Jones CD will probably be a while in coming. "New York City" comes off as what it is: a mini set featuring Jones as a guest singer. While there's enough cool in spots to satisfy most fans, this appallingly thin collection doesn't add up to Norah's honed-to-perfection standards. Even worse, the seven listed tunes are really six with a reprise of track 1 -- hardly value for money.Thematically, the blue-tinged atmosphere falls short of the best of "Feels Like Home" and "Come Away With Me." Jones's music is at its finest when her breathy vocals alternate between seduction and quiet despair. On her first two CDs she could pack in all sorts of images and feelings into one song; on "New York City" there's simply not enough room to develop a range of emotion.A Norah Jones CD conjures up the sultry twilight of late July, porch swings, open windows and carnivals -- the bittersweet days of the small town world. "New York City" is a bit of a disappointment for listeners who were touched by, and are waiting for, the original vision.

This is a great CD. The music and the vocals are so ...
This is a great CD. The music and the vocals are so superior that anyone on the fence about Nora Jones can't help but join her fan club. Nothing like a music list that you can just hit the play button and let it rip.

Sterlings Review
My Daughter and One of My best friends introduced me to Ms Jones. A very talented Singer. I was considerably highly impressed by this CD. Not The One She won Grammy Awards for nor Nora and friends. This Cd Is Certainly a 5 Star.

Ms. Jones brings it on.
In case you're wondering about the title, Ms. Jones manages to have kind of a New Yorkie sound in each of these tracks if you know what I mean. Anyway, I liked it.
