Initial Set Up Tricky
I managed to set up the Controller to the App after several attempts. I discovered my phone (One Plus 10 Pro) would not find any WiFi connections in the App during set up. Not sure why but I was able to install the App on an older phone, log into my account and find my Wifi connection along with other nearby connections. I then successfully connected my heat pump to my App account on the older phone. I could then log into my App account on my One Plus phone and access the controls. No need to set the Heat Pump Smart setting either to 'Smart' which is mentioned in some older Aqua cal online videos. The D port connection in the heater could be better identified. It is the bottom left port. Feed in the cable before gently removing the green cover and connecting the 4 wires in the correct positions, then carefully push on the green connection.

Good, not great.
Pros:-not overly expensive-phone access to heat pump is great-no more messing with the control panelCons:-no dedicated spot on the heat pump to mount the thing-no alexa integration-green light is annoyingly bright-initial setup is flakyI like that they're not gouging you for this device, it costs about what I think it should. I can totally see other companies trying to charge hundreds for this. Installation is easy enough if you have some basic knowledge and aren't afraid to mess with electrical boards, just kill the power first! The app and/or instructions for the app are a bit lacking. I had everything set up and connected to my wifi, but it didn't show my heat pump. Had to force close the app several times and hit the reset on the device before it finally showed up. After the initial issues, it seems to be better. Now, whenever I open the app, the heat pump is there.Routing the wire and mounting it can be problematic if this is an add-on to an existing system. It would be nice if there was a dedicated spot on the heat pump to mount it. I thought about leaving it inside the access panel, but that would require undoing 20 screws every time I needed to access the buttons (if I ever do need to get to the buttons)Alexa integration would put this on another level.. "alexa, what's the pool temp?"; "alexa set the pool to 82 degrees".. unfortunately, there is no such integration. My last issue is the annoyingly bright green 'status' light that's constantly on. I had to cover it with electrical tape. Most folks try to hide their pool equipment. No one on earth wants a bright green light drawing attention to it! A small piece of electrical tape solved that issue. All in all, to be able to check the water temp and adjust from wherever I am, it's worth the 60 bucks. It could be better, but it is what it is.

Wifi range is misleading
The installation was easy. Although I had my electrician do it I watched him and assisted him. Total time to install and mount the unit was less than 39 minutes. The misleading thing is that you can only control the pool heater from within your wifi range. I thought I could, for example be visiting relatives and set the temperature before heading home. Another issue I found d is that it doesn't seem to find my 5G wifi only the 2.4 which is not a major issue but I have to remember to switch networks on my phone to 2.4. The app is easy to use. An enhancement that would allow you to control the pool heater out of state would be a plus for property owners that rent out their property. The owner could schedule, set Temps, turn unit off and on. Otherwise I'm happy with both the pool heater, module and app.

Easy installation, works like promised, can't update firmware
This controller sure does make monitoring the pool heat pump and scheduling it for energy efficiency easy. For example, I have it run only Thu-Sun because I don't usually use the pool on weekdays. I can do this both at home, connected to my own WiFi, and when away, which suggests that some of the earlier problems have been resolved.Installation was straightforward, although initial WiFi connection required more than a few tries. The app is telling me that the device's firmware needs to be updated, but I have not yet been successful there.

Works, but leaves a lot to be desired
Took me less than an hour to install the device on my Tropical electric heater. The app was straight forward. Everything is working as indicated here, but nothing more. Here is where in my book it leaves a bunch to be desired. I have a GE smart switch on my pool pump linked with a Samsung Smart Things hub which allows me to automate for several variables. I'd love it if this device could have Z wave capabilities so I can automate my heating controls based on certain variables.

Works for what I needed
Fairly straightforward install, the images in the install manual were an exact match & easy to read. The app is simple but it works fine. I don't have the call/flex circuit on our AQ-SuperQuiet 166ardsbpr and wanted to run the heater on an overnight schedule when the electricity is cheaper (2-10am). Eventually I'll run the cable thru conduit and put in a disconnect so that I can take this off thru the winter without having to open the heatpump everytime.Long cable let me mount the control unit vertical and in the shade (photo). I chose this over installing a wifi circuit breaker because of the easier install & integration.

Didn't work for me
This product didn't work for me. I have an new aqua cool heater system. I think the price of this product is very expensive for what you get and the wiffi capabilities seem very poor. Keep in mind this unit works outdoors so you need a very strong wifii signal outside for it to work, which can be difficult with concrete walls/bricks etc that line the house. I set it up correctly and it worked but just the wifii capabilities were too poor and it would not connect to my network. Also possible issue from other reviews that it only works on 2.5ghz wifii not 5ghz and pretty much any good product is able to use both. My wifii router is eero and it prefers 5ghz.

Worth it for $60
I paid $60 for this WiFi connection to pool chiller. $60 is a fair price. Have only had it for a few days but it seems like a plus. The rest of my pool system is iPhone controlled and now the chiller is as well. Only question I have is how long the device will last. I haven’t seen any comments on that yet. So far, worth the buy.
