Bahco P74 Lawn Shears with Horizontal Blades and Steel Handles, 44-Inch

This product was exactly what I was looking for! I have a lot of fence edges and planters to trim around string trimmers are sometimes hard to control. I also did not want to spend a lot of time crawling on hands and knees trimming grass with shears. I am 6 foot tall and I find the handles are absolutely perfect for this height. The shearing blades are heavy duty and sharp right out of the box. The handle grips are contoured to support your palms which is appreciated if you are trimming for a long period of time. There is a price to pay for the quality metal used in this tool--quality adds weight. Your arms will definitely get a workout if you have a lot of trimming to do. I don't believe it is any more strain that you would experience waving a good quality string trimmer back and forth. The blades are well balanced so you can get into tight spots trimming with just the tip of the shears or you can grab a large clump of grass in open space. The blades work best on dry green grasses and young weeds. You have to put a little more effort into dead grasses and weed stems but it is still effective.

I really like these - It's hard for me to bend over for a long time to weed and with these trimmers I can just cut around my shrubs and perennials to free them up. I used them too long the first time and was sore afterwards but I'm sure that will improve. I'm very pleased with the product.

When the Bahco p74 Lawn shears arrived I was thrilled with how easily they cut. (5 star) No need to bend over, just a swift open close and the weeds fell. These worked well for a 6ft 1in man, and for a 5ft 3in boy. After about 4 weeks they began to have difficulty closing, making it harder to cut weeds. Now they are almost worthless as a garden tool, and we have gone back to pulling weeds with our hands. They sent out a replacement that had the same problem. My son suggested oil for the pivot point... and they quickly came back to life. I wish customer service had thought of that first. I am upgrading from1 star to a 3.

Its sharp. Don’t know how long itbwill stay that way, but will sharpen it when it dulls. Its heavy, but not awkward. I use it in stages when I have to do the entire yard (the old ‘eat the elephant one bite at a time’ theory) because my expensive weedwacker is in need of repair, and I needed this as a backup. Glad it bought it.

Love, Love, Love this tool! Got it a day ago, and used it immediately after taking it out of the package. I purchase this based on reviews, and was please to learn that older individuals found it to be easy to handle. I was looking for a tool that would assist with edging tall grasses, because I don't have the strength to hold a standard weed wacker. I have a really bad back and arthritis, and this was very lightweight and worked very easily. I was able to get right down to ground level to clean up high grass around my planter boxes that a mower couldn't reach. I'm super pleased with it. So much so that I showed it off to my elderly neighbor who was kneeling to get grass from around a tree yesterday, and will now be purchasing one of their own. I also appreciate how I can cut down on my carbon footprint by not having to buy another gas powered tool. Only negative would be packaging. It came in a long tyvek bag, taped up around it so it had no protection in shipping. Had hopes while opening it that it wasn't broken.

Robust, easy to use

This tool sounds perfect for pruning without having to bend over. As long as the vegetation is soft and/or small in diameter it works well. I bought this tool primarily to cut back root sprouts (aka suckers) and this tool will not cut these sprouts if they are one quarter inch or bigger in diameter. This tool was a major disappointment.

We needed help to make it easier to cut down our tall decorative grasses and these make it much more simple to accomplish the chore to be done.
